If endorsements were as good as votes, St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, armed with the largest host committee of current and former elected officials that anyone can remember, would have already won her 2008 election by a landslide.
Most of those hosts were on hand Wednesday night (we doubt all of them could've fit in one room) at Sqwire's restaurant in Lafayette Square as Joyce kicked off her campaign for a third term as the city's top elected law enforcer.

Why are African American politicians who support the recall of Mayor Slay also supporting re-election of the person who is Slay's longest, most loyal ally? Joyce and Slay literally grew up together in the 23rd Ward; Joyce's father and mother successively served as that ward's alderman with the support the ward committeeman, the mayor's father. And of course, the mayor is the first person listed on the host committee.
If recall supporters are willing to picket Hillary Clinton's fundraiser if the mayor makes an appearance, why the free pass for Jennifer?

Regardless of relationships, Joyce is one good Circuit Attorney. Vote for her based on what she has done and not on past associations.
Who have you been associated with who embarrasses you today? Don't we all experience such relationships? We can't control what our associations do, only what we do or attempt to do.

I believe alot of voters at the polls will remember Joyce's disparate treatment of the doctor/researcher that locked a baby in their car to die of heat stroke versus the black female daycare director that left a child in a van for a few minutes with no medical side affects! If not for people questioning her office about the treatment of the elite against the perceived non-elite the young black woman would of received the wrath of the juidicial system while the white doctor/researcher couple received no criminal charges and only sympathy from Joyce's office! We need a prosecutor that does not practice race/class or gender bias as Joyce appears to do!

Sorrrrrry! That was not a race issue. Child care attendants driving children are charged with checking their vehicles before leaving and accounting for all children.
The other couple (race is not the issue, as it could have happened to an Asian, African American or Hispanic couple) experienced an accident due to lack of communication, not to negligence of duties or responsibilities.
School bus drivers are also charged with checking their vehicles for any left behinds. It's part of the job description.
Negligence or responsibilities and happenchance accidents or misfortunes are not in the same category.
People are tired of the race card being pulled out all the time--one of the reasons St. Louis suffers so.
Many thanks to Mary Durham who called Jamala's race card in the St. Louis American re the trial of Kevin Johnson. Durham, an African American, respected justice over race and expressed that the jury dealt with all the pertinent facts and came to a unanimous decision.
We need more color-blind African Americans as well as Caucasians, Asians and Hispanics if we are to have a safer and fairer socieity.
Tired of the race card

Since when is a parent's act that leads to a child's death not an act of negligence?

When it's an accident and regardless of race.

Jennifer Joyce has had some successes as a prosecuter. I believe we should challenge office holders every 90 days while they're in office.Incidently, in the case involving the child left in the vehicle "accidently", the commander of the district is the one who needs to be challenged. Let me explain, the arresting officer had to have spoken with the sergeant on duty (chain of command) during the investigation. Someone gave the officer instructions to proceed with the arrest based on information gathered at the scene where the incident took place. I believe someone urged the police dept. to proceed with the arrest based on subjective insight. We will never know because the media failed again. Hence, I'm tired of people accusing blacks of using the race card! If it looks like a feral, walks like a feral, smells like a feral then it's usually a feral...right? Tragically, Laidlaw bus drivers have left children on the bus. They were never arrested! Do your homework HATER! Some were reprimanded and others were fired, nevertheless the incidents were handled internally...right? Pity the fool who can't substantiate their allegations. The lieutenant at the scene of the incident where the child died as a result of "poor communication" between two medical practioners who should have known better, said "I don't think charges will be filed" before the investigation had been completed. Thus, this was about perception without rationalization. In this case, the reputation of Washington University was at stake nationally. So therefore...you know the deal! Do I need to elaborate any further. Jennifer Joyce went out of town and looked into a mirror and said "Damn, I screwed up!" She knew better than to proceed knowing her career was on the line. I don't trust any elected official especially if the person isn't made accountable. I believe in cases where a black person commits a crime against another black person the penalties should reflect the serverity of the crime, not race. Blacks typically receive harsher punishment when it's "black on white"..Hint!! "Jena, Louisiana". In closing, there is no such thing as a "good" circuit attorney. Is she fair? ....the voters will voice their feelings......Nat Turner speaks!

nat turner said, you are so right. When I saw Capt. Gieseke of the SLPD speaking about the white Washington U/BJC couple less than an hour after the child was discovered dead with very little investigation accomplished calling it an unfortunate accident,I thought he was the couple's defense attorney the way he was defending them!I wonder if Capt. Gieseke would of been so defensive of the parents if they were a black couple that worked in the housekeeping and dietary departments? People wonder why blacks say the juidicial system is biased against them!
