Targeting Illegals: Blunt Proposes "New" Law to Deny Drivers Licenses

By Antonio D. French

Filed Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 6:00 AM

Governor Matt Blunt stopped by St. Louis police headquarters Monday to announce his latest step to pull up the welcome mat for illegal immigrants in Missouri.

Blunt proposed making it illegal for "illegals" to get a drivers license. Blunt's Democratic challenger, Attorney General Jay Nixon, wasted no time in pointing out that such a law already exists.

In fact, when questioned about the need for this "new" law, Blunt admitted that of the 110 people arrested since he ordered state Highway Patrol officers to check the immigration status of everyone they pull over, only one was found to have a drivers license.

Apparently Blunt would have all the immigrants leave when they are simply here to fill positions we need and depend upon. We should be thankful that these individuals are effectively slaves. I think the last thing we should do is further diminish their ability to live in this country.

Duckworthless, you are in the minority of Missourians and Americans who are opposed to illegal immigration! There are legal processes for immigrants to enter this country to work! Illegal immigrant criminals are law breakers and "line jumpers" entering the country ahead of immigrants who respectfully followed the immigration process!Blunt will get my vote because he is doing what the majority of Missourians want in regards to stemming illegal immigration in Missouri!A burglar that breaks into your home feels he has the right to take your belongings just as these illegal criminal aliens feel that they have the right to be in this country, both are wrong and should feel the wrath of the justice system!

Obtaining a driver's license as an undocumented person is seal proof--That means it can't be done ANYWAY no matter how hard they try. Even legal status immigrants have a difficult job getting a license having to renew every year and getting special documentation from the feds. If legal status folks jumps hoops for a year long license, what makes you think an undocumented person COULD even get a driver's license?

This is merely a ploy of Blunt to get off the E-MAIL SCANDAL, Eckersley situation, etc.

Anonymous 3:42, you might want to check your keyboard. I think someone put the exclamation point key where the period is supposed to be.

There are three issues with illegal immigrants.

1) They often perform work that would go undone because americans are not willing to work for the wages recieved (is this because americans are spoiled...this is a very complex subject as well).

2) Why should illegals be afforded the same rights that legals have but yet have not followed..line jumping as someone mentioned.

3) What is being done in the country of origin that makes their own residents want to leave. (in this case obscene poverty in Mexico, where ironically the richest man in the world lives)
