Sounds like Sullivan and Bourisaw about to finish off all you poor little black folk. To think Senator Coleman and clergy help them do this.
Word on the street is that Bray will confirm Sullivan and after Jan. more will be fired and the union will be gone.

What street? Lindell?

"the union will be gone."
Can't we just get rid of Armstrong and Clemens?
11/16/2007 12:36 PM
I prefer we get rid of that damn Slay and his "boy" Bryson!
11/16/2007 3:32 PM
Yeah, let's get rid of Slay because his is Lebanese and Bryson because he is Black!
I agree!
DOWN WITH SLAY!
You know, I heard Slay caused cancer in the black community too! That damn Slay!

Whatever the faults of the union, I don't think it will be "gone". At least I hope not. Most of the members remain quiet and uninvolved until things get really bad.
If the SAB makes an ubrupt move against the union there will be a big backlash and the membership will come together. If they take incremental, slow moves that don't cause an uproar they COULD get rid of the union. I think the former is their plan.
Armstrong and the others at the top better realize this if they don't already. They have been VERY quiet lately and it is troubling.
Usually when things get bad enough, the union regains strength. But only if the members know how bad it is getting!
Teachers make up the majority of Local 420's membership and when classroom conditions get worse (and they are in my school) many realize the union is the only one who sticks up for them. Yeah, yeah, I can hear you saying "they only care about getting the members' money" blah, blah, blah. That's bullshit.
While Armstrong makes good money and benefits (and I'm not saying she shouldn't) most of the other positions are unpaid and voluntary. The treasurer makes a little and I think Clemens makes a little, but not much. Certainly not enough to cover expenses and the vast amount of time required.
The same anonymous poster who always bashes the union (and others) never gives any facts, simply starts calling people names and makes false bullshit allegations.
Yes, you could have tried to get rid of Armstrong and Clemens if others (myslef included) had cared to run for office in last spring's union election. If I remember right, only two or three of the 420 Executive Board positions even had challengers. No one ran against Mary Armstrong or Byron Clemens.
The union might be in danger of being "gone" but only if the leadership allows it. The trouble with the disrict could actually be a golden opportunity for Local 420 to GAIN STRENGTH if they cared to try and inspire the membership.
There have been no calls for ANY kind of action or rally because Armstrong is scared to death that no one will show up. She has repeatedly said this at membership meetings for as far back as I remember.
And please give the racism shit a rest. Ok haters...attack.

Correction: I should have said "I think the latter is their plan" not former. In other words, I think they are trying to destroy the union in small incremental steps that won't cause a big uproar (common sense).

Bravo to Jim Heger for speaking the truth.

I don't include myself, because I am so much of an outsider, but people like Jim who sign their name, deserve to be taken seriously, whether you agree with them or not.
Anonymous people can be taken seriously too, if they have things to say which make any sense.
As for the racism and hate---it serves as a reminder that people are not having their opinions squelched, no mattter how far off the wall.

Here is the information online about the AmericaCan charter school sponsored by the Missouri state board of education. I think it is likely that the individuals in charge are very good people---I have more serious concerns about the TexasCan outfit, and the state board of education sponsoring them. Perhaps there is no story here, or a very good story.

The headlines today are "Barry Bonds Indited."
Let's see here:
Cleveland Hammonds gets his car, wallet, and watch stolen by a hooker, McCreary covers it up and bam he becomes head of security for the SLPS.
Jim Gant had 17 allegations of child abuse (ask Ken Brostrom) against him during his career with the St. Louis Public Schools, Purdy protects him. He is gone for three years before Riverview Gardens puts him out on his ear. Six people that were going to be fired or demoted from Riverview Gardens now work for the SLPS.)Purdy boy)
David Jackson handles minority contracts for Rick Sullivan.
Dianna Bourisaw lied to Kent King and thought she was too smart to get caught.
Floyd Irons is going to a Federal Prison. The killer of Timothy Bacon still is at large. Hope he give up some names. lets be fair to Steve Warmack, Floyd's audits were pretty bad also.
A continuing sub at Northwest is arrested for drug trafficking.
Steve Warmack stole chip money and tempoary ID money. (Purdy Boy).
Sam Dunlap a man that never worked a day in his life, winds up getting Floyd Irons job without the certification that the job had listed (Purdy boy)
Chip Clatto (Bourisaw boy) makes more money than any other district administrator.
Sharonica Hardin runs Human Resources. Ooh boy.
If you get fired from Normany you can come work for the SLPS (as long as you continue to talk to Floyd Irons).
Shiela Smith Anderson runs the New Administraors program but was only a principal for one year.(It's suprising what you can find on google)
John Martin needs to get a roll away bed for those times when he just can't keep his eyes open.
Despite what Rick Sullivan says, Joan Bray will not nominate him.
Teffari is running academics in Wellston. Oh boy!
Donna Jones can't get the marker off her face. She likes Aldi's baloney.
Jane Cunningham needs to be applauded for even bringing up the issues of child abusers in the state. She could have a field day with the SLPS.
With all due respect to the people in the fine city of St. Louis, we have a lack of functioning brain cells. We have allowed this to go on for too many years and wonder why it is such a mess.
Let's be fair to Gant and Purdy what about James Biney an his Mahoney.
Kathy Wessling is worried about filling up the vacanntcies in the magnet schools with black kids because we don't have enough white kids. Why don't we fix the problems so that all kids would want to attend the St. Louis Public School.
And people are worried about Barry Bonds.Go figure.
