Cunningham to Announce Hearings to Address Teacher Sexual Misconduct

By Antonio D. French

Filed Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at 6:18 AM

Missouri was recently identified by the Associated Press as having the 11th highest number of K-12 educators dismissed for sexual misconduct. Just last week, a St. Louis teacher was suspended with pay pending an investigation into an allegation by a student of "inappropriate behavior."

State Rep. Jane Cunningham (R-Chesterfield) will be holding a press conference Wednesday to announce a schedule of investigative hearings and legislation to address the AP findings and Missouri's disproportionately high ranking.

A victim will be sharing her personal story of sexual abuse by a teacher who is still teaching in Missouri. PTA representatives will be on hand to alert parents and teachers of the importance of parent involvement and learning the "red flags" for spotting sexual abuse.

The press conference is tomorrow, Nov. 14, at 10:30 AM in the House Lounge of the state capitol.

She should investigate the years of abuse at Vashon High School and the new offenders that Diana Bourisaw has hired.

John Q. Public says;
We applaud Cunningham for "addressing Teacher Sexual Misconduct Hearings" and so much for political grandstanding!!!!!!
For many years there has been a call for our politicians to hold a hearing on the rape and pilferage of our childrens $$$$$$ by these Charter School Management Companies in our midst such as Imagine (Recently charged with sending one of our children home with a broken leg)..
Where is the outrage people....
Lets hold a hearing on abuse also...............
Signed. John Q. Public

go Jane. This is a lady that should be on the SAB. For many years the district has covered up for sex offenders. Even under the SAB they are covering up. Maybe they should run checks on school board members. We all know districts have members that have had issues.
District attorneys also cut deals with unions to let the members off. Sullivan should be good at this since he is so tied to the unions at McBride&Sons.
Most Riverview Garden offenders were hired this year by SLPS. Uhhhhhhhhh

"She should investigate the years of abuse at Vashon High School and the new offenders that Diana Bourisaw has hired."

I thought the Human Resource Department hired teachers. Any and all superintendents sign off on what their alleged professional staff send them. Without any "red flags," no superintendent or Board member (not even the Mayor of St. Louis) would know if a sex offender is being hired.

C'mon folks. Be reasonable. And mentioning board members? Someone should ask what happened between a certain white female board member and and a black male administrator.

I am afraid the bulk of the respondents thus far are not aware of the difference between pedophiles, sex offenders, and sexual harrassment. Everyone knows about THE pedophile at Vashon...now new ones, doesn't surprise me. What about at Roosevelt. If that wasn't the shit hole of pedophilia...all with the protection of a long standing board member. No names mentioned as everyone who reads this will certainly know who that is. Now about a Board member of one sex and an employee of another sex, is this sexual harrassment? Well what about the David Fleig and the Secretary situation...now married.
All work places have their Peyton Place episodes...but the phelothra of pedofiles in SLPS and the cover up from Ken Broston on down through the ranks of board members, past and current superientendents is a crime. Hopefully Rep Cunningham can get the real stories and clean things up. Next maybe we can get her to work on flushing out the Felons in our District.

What fools. The superintendent is in charge of hiring. The board has the final say. The superintendent should not hire people that have not been properly checked. I work in HR and all they have done the last year was hire convicted felons and sex offenders. Some have been friends of Maureen Spince Diana Bourisaw's best friend. Not to mention the ones that were hired under the SAB. The AP is cracking down on the districts that are doing this.

The past year the district has hired just about all the fired River Garden rejects and the ones that were in trouble with John Martin when he was with other districts. Bourisaw has everything "Back on track". Hammonds even gave her his left over t-shirts from the "back on track" spending like drunken sailors campaign.

They have not gone after the Catholics. They went after certain homosexual/pedophile priests. They haven't gotten into the schools and the lay sex offenders or the other church schools or the expensive private schools.

Come on Purdy Bourisaw supporters, going after O'Brien is not going to help you. People are tired of hearing you blame things on that lady. Everything she has said has been proven true. Besides we all know that it is only a few school board members that are concerned about her.
Bourisaw should be careful with alleged video of the district. She may find herself in a very interesting spot.
Maybe Steven Ray will help her.

Her vote is always for the children and education. Jane tends to be one of the rare people that is about the children. She does not care what you say about her. It is about children. She is very well respected in Jefferson City and Washington DC.
Maybe you mean spirited school board folk should start trying to work with her.

Another way to look at these numbers is that Missouri is the 11th best at finding and ejecting the sex offenders. States with low numbers detected don't necessarily mean that the numbers of offenders are low, just that they aren't detected.

The headlines today are "Barry Bonds Indited."

Let's see here:

Cleveland Hammonds gets his car, wallet, and watch stolen by a hooker, McCreary covers it up and bam he becomes head of security for the SLPS.

Jim Gant had 17 allegations of child abuse (ask Ken Brostrom) against him during his career with the St. Louis Public Schools, Purdy protects him. He is gone for three years before Riverview Gardens puts him out on his ear. Six people that were going to be fired or demoted from Riverview Gardens now work for the SLPS.)Purdy boy)

David Jackson handles minority contracts for Rick Sullivan.

Dianna Bourisaw lied to Kent King and thought she was too smart to get caught.

Floyd Irons is going to a Federal Prison. The killer of Timothy Bacon still is at large. Hope he give up some names. lets be fair to Steve Warmack, Floyd's audits were pretty bad also.

A continuing sub at Northwest is arrested for drug trafficking.

Steve Warmack stole chip money and tempoary ID money. (Purdy Boy).

Sam Dunlap a man that never worked a day in his life, winds up getting Floyd Irons job without the certification that the job had listed (Purdy boy)

Chip Clatto (Bourisaw boy) makes more money than any other district administrator.

Sharonica Hardin runs Human Resources. Ooh boy.

If you get fired from Normany you can come work for the SLPS (as long as you continue to talk to Floyd Irons).

Shiela Smith Anderson runs the New Administraors program but was only a principal for one year.(It's suprising what you can find on google)

John Martin needs to get a roll away bed for those times when he just can't keep his eyes open.

Despite what Rick Sullivan says, Joan Bray will not nominate him.

Teffari is running academics in Wellston. Oh boy!

Donna Jones can't get the marker off her face. She likes Aldi's baloney.

Jane Cunningham needs to be applauded for even bringing up the issues of child abusers in the state. She could have a field day with the SLPS.

With all due respect to the people in the fine city of St. Louis, we have a lack of functioning brain cells. We have allowed this to go on for too many years and wonder why it is such a mess.

Let's be fair to Gant and Purdy what about James Biney an his Mahoney.

Kathy Wessling is worried about filling up the vacanntcies in the magnet schools with black kids because we don't have enough white kids. Why don't we fix the problems so that all kids would want to attend the St. Louis Public School.

And people are worried about Barry Bonds.Go figure.

The only problem with your comment is that the Evening Whirl is not the truth. Check out the comments that where made. Look for yourself, ask the people that know. Anyone that has worked in the district knows. Request freedom of information acts, google some of these clowns. The biggest problem with the district is that too many people are afraid to speak up.

Rep. Cunningham must be term limited and running for another office. In the past she has
only been noted for promoting
Charter Schools and Vouchers.
I notice that Rep. Cunningham seems
unaware of sexual abuse in private and parochial schools.
Seems if you back Catholic School
"Vouchers" the sexual abuse issue becomes "Public" school sexual abuse. Pedophiles should be held
accountable wherevever they hide -
even the state legislature.

Cunningham is part of a network
of extreme right wing nuts -
the Heartland Institute is one
example. She has consistently
voted to cut children off
health insurance and for
taking money from public schools.

Although she is big proponent
of Charter Schools and
"Vouchers" she hasn't snuck
them into Chesterfield yet.

Jane Cunningham:

She is very anti-labor and totally right wing conservative. She used her ability to raise money for Republicans as the basis for being re-appointed to her position on the Education Committee.

Raised all sorts of hell in Ladue a few years ago when she couldn't use school facilities for Christian Bible study meetings. Out of spite and revenge spite she forced them to cancel a popular Christian-based after school sports program of some sort.

Wants everyone to be white and Christian. Either she cares nothing about the children who need the most help or she cares about them but takes the exact opposite positions that would help them.

Either way her policies are VERY BAD for lower income and minority children and their families. Willing to sacrifice the most needy to help those with the most promise...a perfect fit for charter schools.

She saw a perfect way to get her name in the paper for her campaign. She is using the pain of children sexually abused to get her name in the press.

EVIL...STAY AWAY MISSOURI!
