Seems that Blunt knows he has some problems with this Sullivan guy. Sullivan has done nothing. We all keep hearing he is a good business man but he is not helping the children. Teachers are walking out of schools, the schools are falling apart, classrooms are empty and he has nothing to say except he is not an educator. Is it possible that Blunt wants him to fail so he can get out of the SAB?
The elected board is doing nothing. The seem to be only concerned about who is running their board. They are all talk.

Where are teachers walking out of classrooms? Where are there empty classrooms?
You decry the elected board for not doing anything, but it seems to me that it is tough for them to do anything until legal issues are settled. They offered a plan to the SAB that detailed the division of powers, but that was rebuffed by the SAB saying that only the SAB had any power. Ergo, the lawsuit.
It seem you might want it both ways. You can't neuter a board and then expect them to "do something."
And, personally, I don't care where Slay is on the issue, as long as he keeps his and his political lackeys' tentacles away from it. From the way I see it, his fingerprints are all over the creation of the mess we've got now, so we don't need any more of his help.

Where is Slay is a good question.
I do not know how Joan Bray and Slay feel about Sullivan. I have to wonder why Slay would not be joining the governor in public support, since he engineered the process that got Sullivan the job.
I do not know about bray, but I am beginning to think that Sullivan's not firing Bourisaw is eating away at Slay, and I have seen a lot of votes of confidence given for football and baseball coaches which soon became meaningless.

I are agree with the last posting. Most have found out that Bourisaw is an oportunist and needs to move on if Sullivan is serious about turning the district around. Sure hope he doesn't run his own business like this.

Sullivan is not looking real good. He is not the man for the job. Is it true that he is not paying for board member training unless they drop the lawsuit. Downs says he is putting this in writing. If Sullivan feels the law that placed him hear is a good one then why is he concerned about the law suit.

It is true that elected board member training is not being approved by Sullivan. I have attended 2 trainings so far anyway and financed it personally.

How can Sullivan do this? Your board are still elected by law. Are they challenging the elcetion alos.

Because he is only accountable to the governor and the governor knows St. Louis votes don't matter for him.

State statute (RSMo 162.203) mandates sixteen hours of orientation and training for school board members within one year of their election or appointment.
State regulation (5 CSR 80-850.060) specifically identifies the content of those sixteen hours.
As of this moment-Charter School Boards are all in violation of State Statute and NO ONE, not even the Missouri Attorney General's Office obey's the LAW.

Wow,I don't even know where to begin with how ignorant both of these men sound on the issues of education. I'll just say this: since Sullivan has no idea where to start and clearly STILL has no plan to help move the students forward, why doesn't he look at the 5 point plan the Local 420 has put together. There is no doubt that if he followed those 5 guidelines we would see progress in the classrooms (smaller class sizes being extremely important). So Sullivan, don't try to reinvent the wheel, many education educated people worked hard and used research based strategies to put that plan together.
What is with this "we need to get input from the community" thing Sullivan keeps touting? Please, set up some forums for teachers,(advance notice would be appreciated). I believe they may know what resources they need for teaching and learning to take place. Sullivan's comment about one on one (teacher to student) was laughable. These students are needy, they may spare their teacher for a minute or so, and then they want their turn. They let us know this by becoming disruptive when we turn our attention to one student for a very long time. Please don't make silly comments like that again until you can tell us how that will happen.
Lastly, I wish we had our elected board back. Anybody paying attention knows it was not them who messed things up. They did not even get the chance to make a difference before they were kicked out. Sorry so long, but I could go on and on.

Sullivan made crazy comments during his press conference.
He has always said he is not an educator so he must have gotten the data from the district. Maybe there should be a takeover of the takeover team.
