At a press conference in downtown St. Louis today, Governor Matt Blunt restated what has been a regular campaign theme in his reelection bid: education is his number one priority. In that spirit, Blunt congratulated SLPS CEO Rick Sullivan on his progress as head of the city's public schools and said he is confident that he and his State Board of Education appointee, Derio Gambaro, will be confirmed by the state senate in 2008. Stop your critical thinking. McMansions=quality education.

If Blunt is so concerned about education explain why so many districts are suing the state for the millions of dollars that is owed to Missouri schools. Blunt's premise is that the state only has to pay 25% of the states budget despite more money has been spent in previous administrations.

Less nosiness by the press about what is going on in the schools.
Fewer dramatic pictures of people "causing trouble". Less arguing when they vote with a 2 to 1 being all that is necessary.
If you call that progress.

It's hard to speak out when you "wake-up" to christian rock. Or instead of (O)nions we get out-foxed. Right? Where is there a forum that one can complain that the masses will hear. Where can information be dispenced about rallys.meetings, protests? How do we as Joe Citizens get the heads up on what is happeneing in government? Our airwaves have been censored. Local news reports are one-sided, our city is divided by race ans class. We have one newspaper. What year is this?

Anon, it doesn't exist. The ability to clear farmland for tract housing has no correlation with ability to administer education.

Bill Monroe to: Anonymous 10/9 at 7:50 p.m.-Great COMMERCIAL in support of sending $7.00 @ month to PubDef-
There was a Elected School Board meeting last night at Sumner High School in the library, with all the Elected Board present but Flint Fowler.
This meeting was attended by more than 150 citizens.
Board President Peter Downs to his credit and the rest of the Board allowed citizens to speak much longer than the normal three minutes.
How do we keep this type of momentum going ?
Although most of the citizens were in fact bus drivers that voiced proper concerns and reasons for their strike.
This meeting lasted well over three (3) hours.
PubDef should have been there to air that meeting for all; however it was recorded by the SLPS -
Antonio PLEASE GET THAT TAPE and bring it to your Supporters and remember-$7.00 @ month is a worthwhile investment.
Parents please attend all Board Meetings-You canmake a differance...

Strange that the Governor did not take a similar stance on Donnel Whitmore-Smith. He failed or refused to back her twice. Once when he nominated her as a member of the St. Louis Election Board and then again he put his tail between his legs and hid when the Senate would not support Ms. Smith for the Education Commission. Why would he go to the mat for these two men but not an African American.
