After promising that on Friday we'd hear a tape of a allegedly crooked real estate seller "saying he makes regular payments of cash to the local alderman," KSDK ran a short follow-up that did not include the tape, the name of the alderman, or any mention of the allegation. Labels: Media_Watch
An email to reporter Mike Owens, who investigated the story, has gone unanswered.

Mike's lobbyist neighbor must have had a chat with him.

Antonio,it is time for you to do an ambush interview on Mike Owens, the type that he reserves for black officials at the behest of his cronies!

I like follow up.
It does not happen enough in this town. Unless it is an inoffensive issue, in which case it will be beaten into the ground.
So even talking about failure to follow up on something controversial is a step in the right direction.

Speaking from personal experience, email is not the best way to get a hold of anyone at KSDK. I love a conspiracy theory as much as the next person, but I would bank on this being the email gods sending everything into the abyss, again. It happens a lot at 5 and not just to Owens. It happens to the employees who aren't reporters or anchors. Sometimes the email appears days to a week later, sometimes never, which isn't helpful if you're trying to meet someone for cocktails after work or get a response to a timely, newsy question.
