(3) more young black men in the prison system, due to the lack of parenting.
Fitting that the Mayor would announce this finding in the 1st Ward where many killings are happening of young black men by young black men, except these killers are usually never caught.
I hope the police department uses their efforts to catch the killers that prey on ordinary citizens everyday the way they utilized police resources to catch these killers of a police officer.
Black men killing black men is at an epidemic rate and it is going to get worse.
Wait until Paul McKee and the other white developers get done moving black people out to North County.
North County is going to be the new North St. Louis with mass black on black crime. In fact, it is already happening right now, but the news doesn't cover it in great detail. Enough black people have not moved out to North County yet, but give it less than (7) years and the major news channels will start focusing on the killings in North St. Louis County.
Blacks are running from North St. Louis County now to St. Peters, St. Charles, and O'Fallon, and the white people are running back to the City of St. Louis. When white people are done moving into the City of St. Louis, they are never letting black people bring their a$$ back.

While I agree with you on McKee and co.'s motives, defeatist attitudes are not the way to fight injustice, my friend. I don't count myself as an optimist, but I think McKee can and probably will be stopped by forces beyond his control (Peak Oil).
Now let the reactionaries have their say or we will never hear the end of it.

Wow, racism sure is strong in St. Louis. Blacks kill Blacks, and you all blame the Whites. When the Whites leave the city, they are accused of abandoning the city. when the Whites move back into the city, they are accused of chasing out the Blacks.
Heaven forbid that a shooter is blamed for killing someone, instead you blame the parents, or better yet Whites that live in a different part of the city or live outside the city.
No wonder that St. Louis is becoming more and more insignificant on the national scene.

Nobody is blaming Whites for every thing, but please understand that if the city had a larger white population some of the things would NOT be going on. A lot of what goes on in the city that we (black folks) don't like are things we are doing to ourselves and then there are other things that still happen to us because not only we are black but because we allow them to continue to happen. When Blacks start respected themselves maybe just maybe everyone else will as well.

It takes a village and there is enough responsibility to go around.
First of all, the youth are doing what they have been socially conditioned to do.
Secondly, those who have been awakened are not deprogramming the youth and instilling a sense of self worth and respect for life and knowledge of self in them.
I have often told my students, if I knock you down, you're a victim of my violence, but if I come back 400 years later and you're still lying there, you have submitted to circumstance and accepted your state of being.

Mr. Earnest Schaal, why don't you speak out more publicly and make a speakers tour of North St. Louis and the whole City of St. Louis to explain to the black people about their woeful, racist ways. While your at it, bring a some type of book, dvd, and brochures to hand out to the black people to explain what a white person really stands for.
This tour should start immediately, so that you can reach as many black folks as possible. Tell the black youth how their parents aren't the reason they kill people, they are.
Explain to these black children that you and white people are not running from anybody, and proclaim in your white gang language "WHITE SIDE!" Then throw up some fingers that symbolize the white people so that these black youth know you don't give a fuck about their punk ass gang signs.
Black people don't know what they are doing according to you, so please don't hesitate to rush and save us from our evil ways.
Don't forget to let Antonio French videotape this adventure, so that all of us can witness how it is done by a professional. The guy from Britain didn't know what he was doing Mr. Schaal, but you will even show him the way.
Mr. Schaal, announce the day you will start the tour in your next blog on this site, and you don't have to do this but I am asking you to do this for the sake of the City of St. Louis!

You cannot blame white people for wanting to live in an area with a low crime rate. I honestly care little about how the situation (as far as migration patterns) has reached this point. I am going to live in the lowest crime area that has nice schools. Is that not common sense?
Having attending a city school when I was a kid certainly makes the choice a no-brainer. Also, when I enter a business in my community I enjoy the fact that there are no bars on the window, I will not have to be buzzed in, and the business owner doesn't need to be armed.
Those are simple facts that one billion excuses cannot change. Only massive and proactive change within the black community itself has even a shadow of a hope of making a difference.

He completely missed the point. St. Louis is rapidly becoming a non-entity because of people like him who try to shift blame for their problems to others.
Not all black people have woeful, racist ways anymore than all white people have woeful, racist ways. On the contrary, most people (white or black) are not racist. Unfortunately, St. Louis has a higher proportion of racist in both the white and black communities than present in other cities.
Recently there was the National Urban League conference in St. Louis. In reviewing the articles written about that conference, I noticed two recurring themes. The first is that there is a lot of segregation and discrimination against blacks in St. Louis, and there is a pressing need for black people take more responsibility for themselves and their communities.
The articles confirm what I had already found in visits to St. Louis, a lot of racism on both sides. Many blacks (but not a majority) in St. Louis blame everything bad happening to them on the whites, and many whites (but not the majority) in St. Louis look down upon what they consider shiftless, irresponsible people and don't want to have anything to do with them.
Plenty on both sides of St. Louis give ample reason for the other side to mistrust and hate them, and the city is hurt because of it.
I don't know how you can break the cycle of hatred in mistrust. All I know about it is that the cycle is growing at a much faster rate in St. Louis than elsewhere in the country.

As I already posted previously, many blacks want to live among whites where they feel safe.
There are interracial communities around us. Neighbors get along when they respect one another and take care of their property and don't cause disturbances regardless of race.
Something has to be done to address families where every child in one family has a different father. Black churches need to address the promiscuity that is killing the family. Black boys are walking down the street holding themselves like they can't let go. It's disgusting. It would be disgusting with white or Asian boys, but up til now they don't do it.
Somebody really has to get over his/her strong prejudice!

I'm a white person who lives in a low-crime area and my kids go to great public schools. I live in southwest city. Everybody come on down! The rest of my family lives out west, one missed paycheck away from bankruptcy in their white suburbia lives keeping up with the Joneses. I wouldn't live there for anything. Don't paint races or areas with broad brushes, nothing is that simple.
This boy obviously needed help. He deserved it and should have gotten it. But his choice to kill was his own, and he will have to live with that and the consequences.
Can someone explain to me the mentality that I've been told is prevalent in the AA community, that the more kids you father the bigger the man you are? Or tell me if it's not true. Looks like it has some truth to it from where I sit, but I'm sure if it's not I'll get lots of responses accusing me of racism. Explain, please, and we might take a step forward here. If you'd rather just call me names, oh well. No progress made.

we should expect casualties in the war on the black community. driving out a population in order to redevelop their land in our image is just like a messy little search for weapons of mass destruction. the tactics and results are the same. Is this just a continuation of the civil war with the south winning? For those who talk about north county, start looking at the next North st. Louis, South st. Louis city and the unexpected results from the team four plan.

"War on the black community"? That is the type of racist dribble that I have learned to expect from some posters on this blog.
There is no more a war on the black community than there is a war on the white community. Instead, there are racists of both races eager to demonize the other race and to pretend all their troubles are due to the other waste.

Interesting statistics:
-- "Blacks commit more violent crime against whites than against other blacks." Forty-five percent of the victims of violent crime by blacks are white folks, 43 percent are black, 10 percent are Hispanic.
-- Blacks are seven times as likely as people of other races to commit murder, eight times more likely to commit robbery and three times more likely to use a gun in a crime.
-- "Blacks are an estimated 39 times more likely to commit violent crime against a white person than vice versa, and 136 times more likely to commit robbery." (If decent black folks have trouble hailing a cab, and they do, these numbers may help explain it.)
-- Black-on-white rape is 115 times more common than the reverse. Even the two most famous sexual assaults by white men on black women in the last two decades -- the Tawana Brawley and Duke rape cases -- turned out to be hoaxes.
What do these statistics tell us? A message the Post will not report. The real repository of racism in America -- manifest in violent interracial assault, rape and murder -- is to be found not in the white community, but the African-American community. In almost all interracial attacks, whites are the victims, not the victimizers.
Why does the Post not report such statistics? My guess: Because the stats would shatter the Post's cultivated image of America as a land where white racism is the great lurking malevolent monster. Stories that conform to the image get play. Stories that contradict it are buried.

The official statistics of the Department of Justice show that most homicides are white on white and black on black.

Ernest Schaal: From a well-known columnist: "Black victimization is a real problem, and it's often black on black," said David Harris, a law professor at the University of Toledo who studies crime statistics.
"Often"? Correction, Harris. As the Post reports and Justice concedes, in more than nine out of 10 cases, black victims are murdered by fellow blacks.
Utterly absent from the Washington Post story and Justice Department stats is anything about white victims of crime. Not a word. Do white folks not count, though they are two-thirds of the population?
Yet, in "The Color of Crime: Race, Crime and Justice in America," produced by the New Century Foundation in 2005, using the same FBI and Justice surveys, startling facts emerge:
Why does the Post not report such statistics? My guess: Because the stats would shatter the Post's cultivated image of America as a land where white racism is the great lurking malevolent monster. Stories that conform to the image get play. Stories that contradict it are buried.
But, if the Bush Justice Department is doing in-depth studies on black victims of crime and who is responsible, why not one on the victimization of Americans of all colors and who is responsible?

I asked for support for the "statistic" that blacks kill more whites than blacks, which seems to be contrary to government statistics that most whites are killed by whites and most blacks are killed by blacks.
I gave the link to the governmental source for homicide statistics by race.
Clearly, the "statistics" by Anonymous at 6:09AM are in error.

Rereading Anonymous at 9:35 PM, I notice that he says that "Utterly absent from the Washington Post story and Justice Department stats is anything about white victims of crime."
That is a lie. Obviously, he never looked at the Justice statistics found at the link I gave. Otherwise he would have notices that not only did they include statistics about white victims, they even plotted white on white, black on black, black on white, and white on black statistics in convenient graphs showing the fluctuations over time that even he should be able to understand.
Clearly his racism is getting in the way of his reading comprehension.

If individuals respected themselves and others, both black and white, the City of St. Louis would be a better place. Great men love and only little men cherish a spirit of hatred. Assistance given to the weak and uneducated makes the one who give stronger; and oppression of the unfortunate makes one weak.
So, those of you who sit and flap your lips about Blacks this and Whites that, should understand that it is all about education, pride, and respect.
Until we as a people get back to the business of valueing education and oursleves, we are headed to hell in a handbasket. Many white folks understand that we have to be better than them to get anywhere. Blacks folks understand that too! However, so many of us are willing to settle for material things (I like them too), but we have taken our eye off of the prize! If you do not have an education, you are going NO Where FAST!!!
It goes back to the public schools that no longer educate our children. Look at the system now...a superintendent who was kicked out of a majority district and never picked up by ANY district in the area. But, ST. LOUIS CITY took her and she can't even look you in the face when she talks at you. She is worthless but City residents stant for mess like that.
When will we learn to get a loaf of bread instead of the crumbs!!!!!
