Governor Matt Blunt’s office officially withdrew his nomination of Rick Sullivan as CEO of St. Louis Public Schools yesterday after Sullivan’s State Senator, Joan Bray, refused to sponsor his appointment. Labels: Appointments, Governor, State_Senate
Blunt also withdrew the name of his latest appointment to the Missouri Board of Education, former State Representative Derio Gambaro, after State Senator Jeff Smith also refused to support his appointment at this time.
Both Sullivan and Gambarro were recess appointments. After the governor’s withdrawal this week, he will likely reappoint them after the conclusion of this week’s special legislative session. The senate would then take up their nominations again next year.
In other St. Louis Public Schools news... Superintendent Diana Bourisaw was in Jefferson City yesterday meeting with lawmakers and touting the good things going on in the district.

Will Blunt Withdraw Sullivan, Gambaro?

Gov. Blount did the right thing. Mr. Sullivan has not shown initiative in looking into the matters of SLPS. He is going along with Diana Bourisaw. Dr. Bourisaw has not put forth anything since taking the seat over 12 months ago.
Bourisaw is a liar and continues to play middle school games of working with "those she likes" instead of putting qualified individuals in key positions. She currently has a group of long-time friends conducting surveys and evaluating departments. That's is a joke. Is she going to follow the proposed changes? Or, is this another tactic to get friends paid?
How about Maureen Spence. Mr. Sullivan, how much is Diana paying her friend Maureen Spence. I am sure she shared this with you.
If Mr. Sullivan is not going to step up to the plate and take on the responsibilities of running the district, replace Bourisaw, or make the top-level changes necessary to do what is best for the children and the district, then may be he should not be re-appointed.
GET RID OF DIANA BOURISAW and the pantywaists cabinet that are working for her!
No, this is not O'Brien.

Anonymous comments of this nature do nothing to further important conversation. "No, this is not O'Brien" is childish. If you have reasoned imput, then make it and sign it.
