As the Post Dispatch and KMOX and all the rest of the media prepares to hit us with another front page story about how many slps students show up on the first day I ask again----what is the follow up story on last years big first day story?
WAS ATTENDANCE OVER THE 175 (by that I mean the 174 days plus the first day) DAYS OF THE 2006-2007 YEAR BETTER OR WORSE THAN 2005-2006?
Is that information available from the same place these map scores are taken from?

No follow. Bourisaw and staff get fat pay for students that show up.
Children keep failing but the adults get the benefit.
Bourisaw and staff are happy because blunt put someone in place just like her. Before long she will have Senator Coleman carry her tray also.
What happened to her friends the elected school board?

My point is that the media made a bfd about the first day's attendance last year.
They had a different board and a different superintendent in charge of 2006-07 than the one from 2005-06.
If the attendance---which has an impact on the budget----was up or down---that is a story.
If it improves, or goes down in 2007-08, that will be a story.
The number which show up in 90-100 degree weather, when things are basically just getting organized, on a day when probably less in the way of instruction and learning takes place-----that one day's attendance is not much of a story.
Which is why it will be hyped on the first day----and the more important stats for the entire year will be buried where little notice is taken.

When Veronica helped hire Bourisaw, she was hired at much less than they were paying Williams---and it is not a long term contract.
Veronica would think of something other than what 5-58 said if she wanted to take a shot at bourisaw.

You think it's a waste of time to go to school on the first day because things are just getting "organized"? Or too hot? I bet your kids are happy...no school when it rains, snows, gets too cold...or any time it's too inconvenient to get them to school...jeez.
My children go to school each and every day. The only days they have ever missed were when they were sick.
The media makes a big deal out of it because healthy, responsible parents get their kids to school each and every day of the school year. It amazes them, as it does me, that any other parent doesn't do the same.
Don't even get me started on bribing kids to go to school on the first day...

Read Kjoe again. He didn't say anything about it not being worth going. He said one day is not indicative of the whole story. Law of averages. Picking one day out of 9 months is not the best way to get an accurate picture of what's really going on in terms of attendance, any more than the first test a kid takes indicates how they will perform in the next 12+ years of their schooling.

Yeah the blame it all on O'Brien is getting suspect and old. Sounds like the negative comments about O'Brien shows someone is jealous of her. Sounds like a small child has found this site.

People it is clear no one cares about the children. Sullivan does not care. Bourisaw does not care.Bourisaw is apparently Bourisaw is applying for jobs with search teams.Kansas City is open and she wants that job. She is hoping sullivan can help her get this and maybe even the job she has always wanted Kent Kings job. She is working with Sullivan and DESE to make sure the district lapses and there can be a complete takeover. Be real folks Bourisaw said all along that she was working with Kent King to kill the district. She paid off a few people like Percy to help her. She and sullivan are about to fire more teachers. Say the district is broke just like Williams said.
All reason to show Downs and board are over.

No Blairmont is jealous. No Rainford is jealous. I got it charles Brown is really jealous since he tried to get the job and Purdy told him no. There are some sick people with this district. No wonder the state took over. You all are selfish power hungry fools.
Get it clear Slay and O'Brien played you all and won. Now you all are being played more. They want Bourisaw to stay because the know this will completely end the district. She will do anything to keep her job. Don't forget Dr. Bourisaw got her job from Chip Clatto and his mom works for Slay. Has anyone questioned this. Chip is making over 100,000 with paid expenses. He has been a union leak for a while. Takeover here they come.

Surprised pubdef has not published the email that is going around that Clatto talks about hiring Bourisaw and his advice to her to fire Charlene Jones, Floyd Irons and a list of others that have all been hired. Clatto is now back running the school where he was fired from. Bourisaw is hiring his wife to work at this school also with Byron Clements our union rep. that sold us out. First day of school is going to be the day we turn on our union leaders.

Slay played everyone, including O'Brien. Now that he got the takeover he wanted, he's done with her, and she actually seems surprised by it. Doesn't she get no one would ever trust her again?
But really, this has nothing to do with MAP scores, and it is great to see our middle schoolers making improvements. Everyone should be happy about that. Doesn't look like most of the posters here even read the article.

Please. Stop the O'Brien and Slay talk. To say Slay would have nothing to do with her shows this is a school board junkie. This lady seems to have a life. Advertising in the Post, radio and everywhere but on this site. Slay did not get anything. He is not running the district, they say Sullivan hates him because of Bourisaw. This shows why they should takeover and kick the few that focus on Slay and O'Brien out of town. Slay will win for mayor and O'Brien will move on to something. The lady seems to be too smart. The elected board will remain powerless and unemployed and disconnected from the issues.
The elected board is who got used. Look what this Bourisaw woman did to them. Everyone is laughing at them. Talk about trust. Who would trust them after they can't even pay for their own lawsuit.
The issue seems to be they are all bad. Slay never says he made any mistakes and nor has the elected board. The only person that has gone on the record for admitting mistakes is O'Brien.
I have followed her since she was appointed by Slay and she has stood up to him and everyone for the right reason.
If anything Slay doesn't want to deal with her because she can stand up to him.
Trust? The elected board presented false information to the state!
The elected board is being run by a teacher that is the reason why the district is broke. He goes around telling people how Slay rejected him when he was the president years ago.
I think there needs to be a new transition board and new leaders in the district so they can really have a fresh start. Blunt screwed this up by putting this Sullivan guy in.
Sullivan is no fresh start. He is a bad start. He is your problem not Slay and O'Brien

Have to agree with the last posting. Trusting O'Brien is not the issue. It is clear she is upfront and honest. What is surprising to me is you all are not talking about the lawsuit against bourisaw for recording third parties in the district. Apparently, they found out she and that Tony guy were making recordings in some of the restrooms at 801. Who would trust her. She makes a fool of her self and has the news stations play a tape of O'Brien that went nowhere but in a lawsuit.
As for this Chip,he qas fired and escorted out of Gateway years ago.
Why is he back?

The issue for the teachers should be this Chip. He was at Turner this year and the police were in and out of his office questioning him. He came midyear. Everyone keeps saying he makes more than everyone else. He has a district cell phone when no one else did.
People said he was a friend of O'brien.

I remain clueless---and amazed.
Purdy is to blame. O'Brien is to blame. Bourisaw is to blame. Slay is to blame. Sullivan is to blame. Blunt is to blame because he picked Sullivan. Bourisaw, as much as I admire her, has absolutlely no business making recordings with Tony in restrooms. Sullivan hates Slay---I hate to think there are differences of opinions between Slay and Blunt, because both of them want only to help the children. Floyd Irons is comeing back. Bourisaw is going to Kansas city, kansas city here she comes. They got some crazy little women there and---but I digress. What was it about the crazy people on the state board who hired texas can wanting to hire Bourisaw to replace Kent King? that sounds about right.
Cwe guy didn't realize it when he said "don't get me started about bribing kids to go to school on the first day...." we agree! They do that because the lazy azzzed media makes a big deal out of that first day---don't get me started about stories which ignore the other 174 days of school....
Antonio is worst of all, because he keeps pretending some of this stuff did not really happen.

Why does the society page never mention her and her husband being together at some function?

There was (at least)one board member who admitted mistakes were made and that was former board member Ron Jackson. Right here on this blog if I remember correctly.

This is getting very interesting. Now a name not mentioned in a while has come up...Chip Clatto. Bourisaw is a sociopath but this boy, Clatto, is a psychopathic sociopathic who is mad because he is short!
Clatto betrayed O'Brien and really thought he had power when he was at 801. Bourisaw USED him to try to double cross O'Brien but it did not work. If anyone should go to jail, it is CHIP CLATTO. But it is rumored that someone has some information that might just get him exactly what he deserves.
If the folks working for the district would stand up, they would protest the salary that he is reported getting. It is reported that Clatto is making more than many of the principals with a lot more education and seniority ... but I guess he is sniffing with the rest of them. Clatto is a disgrace to any race whatever one he may claim. They are all pathetic!!!!
Like all of the other Bourisaw bootlickers, Clatto is incompetent. It is said that he did not have the credentials to get the position at Turner, but his girl Diana (as a payoff for doublecrossing O'Brien) and that sellout BYRON CLEMENS helped to facilitate his move to Turner. Local 420 should give him the boot!!!
Does anyone involved with Bourisaw have any ethics? What about her housband (now that's a joke)? Google him with her married name and see ... you would be surprised!!!
Bourisaw continues to use the district's money to pay her retarded girlfriend, Maureen Spence. What is Spence's blackberry number. Yes, that's right, the district is paying for her phone.
Bourisaw wants to get out of Dodge and go to KC, but sources tell me that she will not bring shame and disgrace to their district. She's probably praying for Kent King to take a turn for the worse.
Wake up ... GET RID OF BOURISAW!!! These statements are not idle chitchat.
SAB ... conduct some due dilligence on Boursaw, Clatto and many of the other folks in her cabinet!!!!
