A Tale of Two Justice Systems

By Antonio D. French

Filed Thursday, June 07, 2007 at 6:28 PM

One woman — young, white and wealthy — is sentenced to serve 45 days in jail for probation violation. After serving only three days of her sentence, she complains about a tummy ache and is set free to serve the remainder of her sentence in her mansion.

Another woman — young, black and poor — is arrested for a traffic warrant and even after her boyfriend posts bond, she remains in jail. When she has an asthma attack in her cell, she receives substandard medical care and dies that night.

Disgusting and another indicator of how our system is not blind except to the facts.

If this happened in the same municipality, same jail, with same authorities, a case could be made. But these are not comparable because they happened thousands of miles apart (perhaps in LA a black, rich star would also receive the same treatment as P. Hilton), and not in the same area or with same authorities.

Look how rich, famous Leonard Little got away with a lot more than some poor white dude who was drunk and killed someone.

Class is as much a factor as race, I believe.

This great quote from Thurgood Marshall comes to mind:
"A child born to a Black mother in a state like Mississippi... has exactly the same rights as a white baby born to the wealthiest person in the United States. It's not true, but I challenge anyone to say it is not a goal worth working for."

The War on Drugs exist in order to subvert the socioeconomic progression of the underclass and to further the imperialistic aims of the United States. In such a system this is, sadly, to be expected.

An investigation needs to be called for by Congressman Clay, Senator Rita Days, State Representative Ester Haywood, County Executive Charlie Dooley and all the St. Louis County elected officials into the practices and patterns of prosecution by the Bel-Nor Police Department.

There courtroom is 100% occupied by black people on their municipal court dates and always has been. They racial profile all the time and many people have made complaints. They only have one black police officer on their police department although the municipality is predominantly black. Many of their police officers make it clear that they hate black people on the street and in the courtroom. When is someone going to step up in the St. Louis County leadership and stop this bullsh!t

This is not just another editorial to fall on deaf ears, because now someone has died due to this lack of judgement.

Antonio has one major point and that is if that paperwork was suppose to be sent to free Paris Hilton, then damnit it would have been there in time to prevent her from dying!!!!

As far as Correctional Medical Services, they have been f^cked up since Dora Shirro was Director of the Corrections for the State of Missouri and utilized their services. She then became the Director of Corrections for the City of St. Louis under Mayor Slay and f^cked up bad, and then she moved out of town to f^ck up their Department of Corrections.

THEREFORE MAYOR SLAY AND PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR SAM SIMON WHO KEEP F^CKING WITH FIRE CHIEF SHERMAN GEORGE ABOUT HIS ABILITY TO LEAD THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, SHOULD NOW REFOCUS THEIR ENERGIES ON FUCKING WITH THEMSELVES ABOUT THEIR ABILITY TO LEAD AS WELL AS THE CORRECTIONS MEDICAL STAFF THROUGH CORRECTIONAL MEDICAL SERVICES THAT F^CKED UP ROYALLY!

THE LADY DIED FROM THE LACK OF PROPER TREATMENT FROM THE MEDICAL STAFF THAT REPORTS DIRECTLY TO THE PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR AND THE MAYOR, NOT THE MEDICAL STAFF UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF FIRE CHIEF SHERMAN GEORGE. NOW INVESTIGATE THAT!!!!

THE ST. LOUIS FIRE DEPARTMENT-LOOKING FOR OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE-UNTIL THE END OF TIME!!!!!

Blogger 12:35 a.m., Most of the residents are black; ergo, most of the crime will be by blacks, and most of it will be black on black. Look at North St. Louis. Your diatribe doesn't make sense.

This just in re Paris Hilton: "The hotel heiress was headed for a courtroom showdown Friday that could put her back behind bars, as prosecutors sought to hold sheriff's officials in contempt for releasing her early from jail.
The decision by Sheriff Lee Baca to move Hilton chafed prosecutors and Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer, who spelled out during sentencing that Hilton was not allowed to serve house detention.
The move also was met with outrage from the sheriff's deputies union, members of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, civil rights leaders, defense attorneys and others. The Los Angeles County jail system is so overcrowded that attorneys and jail officials have said it is not unusual for nonviolent offenders like Hilton to be released after serving as little as 10 percent of their sentences."

Letter in today's Post: "Picking on old folks

Regarding "Man, 75, gets three-year sentence in fatal DWI wreck" (June 2): When
is the Post-Dispatch going to stop picking on the elderly? Every time something
happens and an elderly person is involved, his age makes the headline. Any
fatal accident is a tragedy, and the person who committed this crime should be
punished no matter what his age. But only when it's an elderly person does the
age make the headline. The largest percentage of fatal accidents are caused by 20- to 30-year-old drivers.

Let us be fair to all people. Either publish everyone's age or no one's. Picking on any one group of people is called discrimination in this country.

Dolores L. Roberts | O'Fallon, Mo."

So how much time did Leonard Little get for killing a woman?

Nicole Ritchie explained it to David Letterman Tuesday night--"it isn't just hollywood---everyone goes to jail."

It was a very funny interview.

So---does archbishop Burke get to file suit to stop others, and tell the judge----I am busy--talk to my assistant, or just e-mail me?

CHURCH AND STATE: St. Louis Circuit Judge Jack Garvey is set to hear arguments Monday on whether attorney Gerald Greiman will get to question Archbishop Raymond Burke and his second-in-command, Monsignor Vernon Gardin. The issue is a lawsuit the Archdiocese has filed alleging that attorneys Ken Chackes and Susan Carlson have improperly distributed documents about some of the alleged pedophile priests in the area. Chackes and Carlson have represented nearly all of the alleged molestation victims here. Church lawyer Bernard Huger of Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale said Friday that the church is not opposed to Burke giving a deposition but would like to see if Gardin could give a deposition first. If questions remain, Huger said the church would like to see if they could be submitted to Burke in writing since the archbishop has a busy schedule.
