The new three-member appointed board now in charge of the St. Louis Public Schools will hold a "Meet The Board" meeting Tuesday, June 19, at the Science Center, 5050 Oakland Ave., from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

The new CEO of the district, Rick Sullivan, said he and his fellow board members are eager to hear the public's comments. All are welcome.

I will attend these meetings as one who continues to fight for the children in our community as I attended the special board meeting on Friday, June 15, 2007 held at the Science Center.

I applaud Board Member Richard Gaines in his stance regarding legal representation-but why was the Kansas City based law firm selected over a firm in the City of St. Louis.??????

Unless we are able to provide quality education for our children, the future will remain bleak for our poverty stricken families and that will drag the whole community down.

Our children are worth the struggle.

On to the next meeting, unless someone has a better idea.......

Bill---I wondered---correct me if i am wrong----this is a 120 day contract?

I am not at all clear about the issue which will be fought between the two boards---that the creation of the three member board itself was unconstitutional.

The judge is from kansas City---he accepted the state board's info as sufficient to unaccredit slps, but he might rule that the 3 member takeover board is illegal, thus giving power back to the people he just said no to? perhaps, i guess. That would be appealed to higher court---would it reaqch the court Ron White is stepping down from?

It seems bizarre to me----I do wonder if the 120 day contract was seen as an advantage having a kc firm who might know how to deal with a kc judge?

I also think there is a collision coming about Bourisaw----she has an extremely negative attitude about charter schools----but, for now, she has the support of sullivan----it strikes me as him having genuine high regard for her abilities--and they do not want the revolving door of superintendent changes.

Heard on kmox that the state's internet school has 2500 virtual students signed up---aqnd no teaqchers hired by---surprise, surprise---the outsourced firm from baltimore. Bourisaw was planning on slps having their own set up----

I was looking forward to the judge's ruling giving me peace and closure, even in disappointment.

The story continues.

I do not think it would be proper for me to ask any questions in a public forum---people who are impacted directly should have as much valuable time as possible.

There are questions that do occur to me--so feel free to ask them if you think they are pertinent.

1. what is the status of the virtual school which slps was planning to set up instead of using Blunt's deal?

2. who will be signing checks to employees?

3. what is the status of the teach for america program?

4. There are four people who need to express an attitude about the future of the charter school aspect of the school system. Bourisaw and the three board members. Also, how do they feel about the state board wanting to build its own charter school modelled after texas can?

5. What job will Floyd irons be assigned to for 2007-08?

Boruisaw is still involved with the lawsuit. She and the old board are planning to sue Rick Sullivan in the near future. Not sure if the teachers are helping foot the bill are the taxpayers.

I hope you realize that the School District will probably foot the bill for any defense Rick Sullivan has to make to a school-related lawsuit. That means more money down the drain that could use have used to educate the children in that school district

According to what I heard on the radio today, it is not a meeting but a meet and great, shake hands and talk to them one on one.

They seem to understand that they need to "make friends" with the public. Adams has been on the radio and tv more in one week than Clinkscale did in four years.

Yes and that is the problem she is going to fall in the media trap. The new board will come in and do the same thing. spend all their time getting to know people and doing nothing.
