Hey, That's Our Line

By Antonio D. French

In Sylvester Brown's column today, he reminds critics of the St. Louis Board of Education of the old rap adage "Don't hate the playa, hate the game."

Sylvester Brown editorial "Charter School foes' campaign shows they've got game".

I am personally glad that the $25,000.00 no-bid contract to local radio talk show host , Lizz Brown was negated; especialy since I have for a number of years been the the unfair target of her attack as the founder of Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter School.

Ms. Brown's attacks were many time untrue and purposefully distorted to achieve her goal of deliberate derailing this particular Charter School, while the Management Company went unchecked.

There were times the lies being told by Lizz Brown got to be a bit much and when I and others attemted to rebutt the lies, Ms. Brown would have them on hold the entire length of her show.

Ms. Brown has a long list of disconnect with strong assertive Black men in this community who do not sing her praise or blindly support her issues as if she was the final truth is self-evident.

The issue of fiscal and academic responsibility continues from the Mayors side and the opponents of Charter Schools.

Charter Schools have been negatively impacted by the State of Missouri, DESE, and the City of St. Louis's refusal to point out the Charter School Management Companies who siphon millions of dollars intended for our children as they control the not-for profit Boards, who are supposed to be the watch-dogs of our childrens money that follow them in their education.

Imagine Charter School Management Company seized control of Thurgood Marshall's Board and Boards Attorney(hired to protect TMA)Wayne Harvey and now own the board of the not-for profit Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Public Charter Schools.

The need for a senate hearing, public forum or Attorney General Investigation is GREAT and unless we make public these criminal activities of IMAGINE, our public schools are in great jeopardy of being seized by the for profit management companies who utilize the not-for profit Boards as their own cash cow.

Not many of you know that the former Superintendant of RiverView Gardens was emp-loyed by Imagine who attempted to place him in charge of Thurgood Marshall prior to his employment with Riverview Gardens.

I am wiling to testify at any hearing concerning the DANGERS OF THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY.

Knowledge is power.

Proud Founder of Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter School

Mr. Monroe,
I thought I heard somewhere that Imagine was already being sued by someone. (Sorry, I can't be more specific) Do you (or anybody else)know anything of pending lawsuits?

I would like Antonio to write something about how he feels nowadays about all the slps issues.

It is unusual to read things in the PD which we have not read a day or two before in pubdef---but I was really blind-sided by Jackson's e-mail about the board membership. I sense an underlying racial tension--in Jackson's unhappiness----i hope Purdy, Downs, Wessling and Bourisaw react constructively----showing how a representative democracy should function.

Sylvester Brown's column made some points about the Roberti days which have probably been covered here before, but which were new to me.

I am going to read Mr. Monroe's post a couple more times----he does not like Lizz Brown, but he also does not like Charter schools.

I still think the five member majority has good potential----if they listen to each other better.

Kjoe,

I try not to respond on blogs too often but I have to tell you this. David and I have a wonderful relationship that we forged during the election and have continued to grow, we talk all the time, I know what's going on with him and I'm not going to talk about it here, but this has nothing to do with race and I really hope that idea dies right now. He is my friend. Talk to David if you don't want to take my word for it, but don't take us down this path with nothing more than speculation.

That is really good to hear.

I apologize, and I accept what you say.

It was very upsetting to read the e-mail story.

I hope things go well in court, and I am more confident that David sounds like a person who gives respect and expects it, so i hope things get worked out.

Good luck.

To Kjoe-
My like or dislike for Lizz Brown is not the issue !

What I dislike is a supposed talk-show host who repeats lies and bullshit and conducts a one sided show and if you do not agree-You are shut out-

Kjoe, I don't know where the hell you have been for the last 4 or 5 years -regarding -Bill Monroe and Charter Schools..

I attended the Million Man March in Washington D.C. and listned to the Honorable Minister and returned to St. Louis with a committment to help improve the educational prospects nfor our children in a failed system..

It led me to the Charter School Movement.

What better way to achieve a balance by having a proactive impact for our children in St. Louis.

I read it three times---the words about Imagine confused me the first time----now I think you meant that you do not like charter management companies which are irresponsible and dishonest.

Correct me if i still have it wrong.

Mr. Monroe---do you have any opinion about the outfit in texas
(CAN!) which dese seems to be modelling in their plans to build a charter school in st. louis?

finally-Imagine Charter School Management Company

If any person, group or rganization desires a community based forum, tribunal or investigative hearing on my expeience with Charter School Management in St. Louis please contact me william_monroe@sbcglobal. net

I say this because the public has been grosly mis-informed regarding the facts of the Charter movement in St. Louis and how the media played a part in attacking those of us who were Charter proponents.

If any of you got the time contact the Missouri Attorney General's Office under the freedom of information act and ask for copies of (4) separate complaints that I hand carried to their office and their HOTLINE as I sought help and protection from the encroachment of those Managment Companies-years later no response

Knowledge is power

Thanks Bill Monroe
And thats why I ran for a Seat on the St. Louis School Board-with no money......

We already have a school system made of strong sturdy bricks and mortar on a foundation that has weathered the storms of corruption, racism, and gross neglect. Why tear it down, destroy that foundation, then try to replace it with prefab, veneer, and spit and plaster? Still the poor (those who need PUBLIC EDUCATION)will be forced to attend inferior schools. You know that the better armed will attend the specialty schools and completely forget those left behind. Anyone with good sense knows that our mayor is not concerned about educating the masses which is what public education does, he is interested in what will serve his needs. We need good public education for the children who can not speak for themselves.

Question: Why is a white man allowed to be maligned and attacked on this website while the facts, truth, and perceptions of most about a certain other party are deleted and not allowed?

Is it just to allow one person to constantly slander and malign another without administrator interference?

Ugly lies and heartless postings seem to be the only enjoyment someone gets out of life, but why allow that miserable and sole enjoyment a forum?

I'm curious, out of fairness is the last question going to be answered?

Who is allowed to be slandered on this website and who isn't? Why is overwhelming popular perception and opinion denied while one person's personal attacks on another are allowed?

It seems to be very simple to answer.

I'll add my vote for an answer to the question posed by anonymous at 8:52 p.m.

Is there an administrator around to answer the question? What is this website's policy regarding personal attacks?

It looks as if the administrator has done his job and gotten the filthy slander off of the blog.

Now the real question for Antonio is "Where's the Jackson e-mail?" This website prides itself on reporting the news that no one else does, so "Where's the email?" P-D didn't print it. I figured Antonio would. Don't let us down Mr. Pubdef.

Gee, isn't this slander? What else would you call it? Antonio, we await a response.

When Purdy was principal of Roosevelt, the white kids accused him of favoring the black students.

Antonio, please respond to what is your policy re personal attacks on others? Why do you allow so many unsubstantiated attacks against one man?
