Michael Allen, the unofficial Blairmont watchdog and half of the writing team behind the Ecology of Absence blog, says developer Paul McKee is continuing his acquisition of a large portion of north St. Louis, despite public claims to the contrary. Labels: Development
According to Allen, one of McKee's mysterious Blairmont companies, MLK 3000 LLC, spent $935,400 between May 17 and June 20 in order to acquire nine properties.
The properties and their recorded sales prices are:
Many people are still waiting to see if Governor Blunt signs the huge tax credit bill that would provide as much as a $100 million subsidy for McKee's still-secret plan.

Mayor Slay said to Matt Sepic of KWMU that he has not seen the plan. I find that hard to believe. If it is true then we have a serious lack of oversight in Room 200. If it isn't true then Slay is lying to the citizenry. Either way, City hall is clearly on the wrong side of this issue.

The alderwoman is not involved.
That should stop the project, and keep the mayor quiet.
If this were in south side ward, the mayor would not dare endorse the "vision" if the alderperson was publicly stating she was not consulted by the developer.

I thought I read in the PD that due to some changes in the Jeff City bill a large portion of McKee's development wouldn't even qualify for the tax credit (this came form his spokesperson and I didn't buy it for a second). So the question is if he was speaking the truth and they are still buying property why do they need the tax credit to begin with?

Given that the Bill was drafted by McKee's lawyers, as highlighted in the second RFT article, I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't qualify. Why would he lobby for a Bill that doesn't benefit his project?

Interesting that the woman has ties to the Archdiocese. Perhaps this is why the Archdiocese is so intent on acquiring St. Stanislaus so it can be part of McKee's vision. Probably ties into Hubbard's interests in vouchers too. Makes you wonder if Catholics who don't support the vision will be denied communion.
