Williams Lands in Calumet City

By Antonio D. French

Filed Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 11:25 AM

Former St. Louis Public Schools Superintendent Creg Williams has been picked to head the Thornton Fractional High School District 215 in suburban Chicago.

Considerably smaller than SLPS (just 3,500 students and an annual budget only a fraction as large), T.F. District 215 is a multi-campus district, located in southeastern Cook County, Illinois, approximately 25 miles south of Chicago and one mile west of the Illinois-Indiana state border.

Since the Post Dispatch, and KMOX, and Antonio French have not confirmed the reports on ktvi and ksdk that there is an fbi investigation, LEAVING NO STONE UNTURNED. regarding Floyd Irons-----can we assume that the fbi will not be asking questions of Creg Williams?

I thought there was news that he took a position in Pennsylvania or Maryland earlier?

Well, I wonder if that school district will allow him to sequester himself off as he did here and to have an armed guard drive him to and from work and to everywhere else, including a gambling casino? It would be nice to learn what his perks will be this time.

Antonio, there's a nice shout out from the Political Fix blog, linking to your site on the Williams story. They also link to a lengthy story published in a Prince George County (Md.), newspaper that details how Dr. Williams is now managing that District. Since the story is only two weeks old, I'm wondering what happened to cause him to leave after just a month on the job to go to a much smaller District?

Also, can someone please explain what the heck the FBI would be doing investigating mortgage loan fraud, and the financial dealings of a high school? I'm no Irons apologist, nor am I saying the FBI story is inaccurate, but I thought there had to be suspicion of a FEDERAL crime for the FBI to be involved. I just don't see this. Can someone fill in the blanks for me?

Yes, africa's daughter, I heard that under Creg Williams there was major "drunken sailor" spending at SLPS, and that Creg and Floyd were the number one big spenders. Is that what you heard, too?

In the article about Williams I could not help but notice that the cities he has been in read like a swath of destruction. Philadelphia, Chicago, Anapolis, St. Louis...Everywhere he has been has been followed by attempted state takeovers and charterization plans. Coincidence?
