The 21st Ward delivered more votes for Lewis Reed than any other ward in north St. Louis that did not have a contested aldermanic race. With nothing else on the ballot, the 21st Ward delivered 773 votes for Reed.
The ward's current committeeman, Arthur "Chink" Washington, and its alderman, Bennice Jones King, broke with nearly every other northside elected official and endorsed incumbent Jim Shrewsbury.
The only other ward in the city that delivered more votes for Reed and did not have a contested aldermanic race was the 28th Ward with 781 votes, just 8 more than the 21st.

Antonio, you should be proud of how the haters had to shut the "F" up!
Everyone that claimed you would be responsible for Lewis Reed being an ex-Alderman with nowhere to go, and now he is Mr. President to all those hatin MF's.
Antonio tell them to kiss your African-American, black, and Negro "A" and go "F" themselves. Make it clear to them that you are not telling them to kiss your "A" because of the color of your skin, but due to the lack of a better opportunity of another place to kiss!
You know who wrote this, it all started in the Bread Company!!!!

Please explain where you get off calling this blog "nonpartisan" and "independent."

I believe what Antonio has called this blog is "his". HE set it up, he edits it, and he pays for it. If you don't like what's on it, he has offered the same thing to you that GOD gave him: Go start your own.
Keep up the good work Antonio and as I said election night, "keep dustin' the haters off your shoulders". We have proved we can deliver. Now, as Tone~Loc once said . ."It's on to the next episode!"

Antonio time for you to move on.

Antonio -- you are proud of 13% turnout? You are proud of the first comment to this posting that so clearly is racial? Race needs to be addressed by St Louis, but when you allow it to be used like that - it's divisive. Shame on you and those who talk like that.

The 21st Ward is one of 5 wards which are nearly 100% black in population. The 21st gave Reed 80.5% of the vote, while the other four wards of that kind gave him 85-87%. That means the endorsements of the committeeman and aldermen flipped all of about 5% of the vote from Reed to Shrewsbury. The ward organization of the late Myrtle French (of which this blog's Antonio is a leader) fought for Reed, and I'd say, on the whole, did a damned good job.
Antonio, will you be challenging Chink for committeeman next year?

I am considering it.
