The following is a statement from Comptroller Darlene Green on the March 2007 primary: Labels: Alderman_Races, BOA_President_Race
"Congratulations to Lewis on this historic victory. I look forward to working with him on E & A and at the Board of Aldermen to continue moving the entire city forward. I'd like to thank Jim Shrewsbury for all his years of service to the city. I wish he and his staff well. Also, congratulations to Kacie Starr Triplett and all of the victorious aldermen."

Do we really want to read this kind of stuff on this website?

I wish he and his staff well.
Not that impressive in the grammar department, though.

Well, to all who voted for Reed because of his race, think of his debt to Slay. Slay, according to one Democratic operative, appointed Reed's wife to a position of judge somewhere.
So now Reed wants a say in the appointment of a SLPS transitional committee. Since the mayor is another who appoints, it doesn't look good at all for the school district.
It appears there may be a case of a House N____ who owes big time to the Plantation owner.
Everyone knows Reed didn't do much for blacks or the North Side before the election, so now he can hurt them big time through their school system.

Reed's wife is a municipal judge in the "Problem Property" court. She was appointed by Slay, probably about a year ago.
It wasn't some big tit-for-tat thing though. She was hired to fill in for Debra Carnahan (the congressman's wife) when she couldn't be there.
I think it was more her friendship with Carnahan than any relationship between Reed and Slay that led to the appointment.

Slay doesn't do anything for anyone without expecting favors in return.

So after working with Shrewsbury during the primary, including her picture on his website, now she wants to be Reed's friend. Yeah right!

A wise man once told me the following:
"There are no permanent friendships in politics, only permanent interests."
Remember that.

I sure hope all you niggers are happy "REED" won!

White people don't appreciate that type of "racial terminology" being used to describe them, so whoever wrote this comment above needs to apologize.
Just because so many white people voted for Lewis Reed does not make them that lousy "n" word!!!!!!!!

KKK,
It's now 2008 and in order for our future generations and politicians and citizens to feel comfortable in OUR country we must denounce this type of behavior. It's now time to diversify America and stop using racial slurs. We are all one people. Like Sen Obama said there isn't a Black America, a White American, but there is a United States of America. We are all God's children. "We hold these truths to be selfevident that all men are created equal."
Why would even post something like that on this imformative and peaceful website.
Antonio, I urge you to delete this comment at once. We must move fowards not backwards.
Congrats to the Reed Team and all Aldermanic victories. President Shrewsbury don't feel that you have failed us. Success if failure. Stay strong and who knows, maybe you'll be apart of the 2008 elections. I do see a State Rep seat being vacated close to you. Congrats again to President of the Board of Aldermen-elect Lewis Reed. Lets bring people together and get things done.

Any good candidate that runs against Comptroller Darlene Green will beat her in the next election.

Senator, I'm going to leave this comment up because I think it's important people not fool themselves into thinking we have all moved beyond this kind of stuff.
Actually, every Election Day these kinds of comments get posted.
There is still a lot of work to do.

Shrewsbury is an honest public servant and his kind is rare in City politics. His loss will be felt by those least represented by the majority.
Now it's time for Reed to Show Me...will he really get parity for north side interests?
I'd like to see it. Maybe deal-making with Slay will dribble some crumbs to the north side but someday, someone should demand half of the loaf.

Antonio,
I couldn't agree more. But lets work harder in order to improve lives. There will always be failures but with a failure, there is a success
