Sounds like a VERY good sign for Reed. I would have expected the opposite with absentees.

I worked the polls all day. It appeared every African American came in with a Reed card in their hand. The whites didn't bring in anything other than the green sample ballot handed to them outside.
One disturbing incident took place. The man working the polls for Reed came in to vote. He had already voted absentee, and the roster was so marked. Don't you think someone would know he voted absentee for just one office? Hmmm! Everyone inside thought he was trying to give two votes for one person.
$35,000 from New York City can buy a lot of votes.

Congrats, Antonio. I still don't think much of your candidate, so I credit this upset to you.
The above refers to Reed. You actually deserve double congrats, with Kacie. Not just a win, but a majority! She is a definite upgrade from the present.

Just so everyone appreciates the importance of this moment. Until now, every African American to win a city-wide Democratic primary over a serious white candidate did so by winning a plurality in a multi-candidate election. This is the first election in which an African American candidate has defeated a serious white candidate one-on-one. (Darlene Green's re-election win over Tom Bauer doesn't count, because Bauer had no support from any ward organization and didn't have a Jeff Smith organization and was therefore not regarded as a serious candidate in that election.)
