Wahby Endorses Reed

By Antonio D. French

Filed Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 8:39 PM

City Democratic Party chairman and 7th Ward Committeeman Brian Wahby has endorsed Lewis Reed for President of the Board of Aldermen.

Reed is challenging incumbent Jim Shrewsbury in the March 6th primary election. According to Shrewsbury's campaign literature, Wahby's committeewoman, State Senator Maida Coleman, has endorsed Shrewsbury.

This news comes contrary to a false report in this week's St. Louis American, which claimed Wahby was "a Shrewsbury man".

The only way to get some of the 23 ward residents to vote for Reed is to make public Slay's support for him.

Given the endorsements for Reed [Florida, Hanrahan, etc.,] how could anyone not perceive Reed as closely allied with Slay?

The other day it was totally surreal when Florida was on Lizz Brown's show. Either Lizz has sold out for money or Reed is planning to O'Brien Slay.

So what does this mean? do the city's committemen/women get behind Lewis because their party chairman is or do they follow the will of their own individual organizations? My guess is they split by way of North and South.

A stronger party chairman would have made his backing earlier and lined up his rank and file and we would be done with this race. However this is st.louis where everybody has an opinon and our democratic party is run by holding hands and placating it's members - give me a f***** break. Strong leadership doesnt seem to be the city dems strong suit

Why doesn't any one mention that Reed is in Russ Carnahans pocket?

Just look at the financial report?

Can we start a pool on how late Reed will be on the report that's due today?

Reed in Russ Carnahan's pocket? That's better than being in Jim Talent's and Todd Akin's pocket like Patrick Cacchione
