Sources close to the situation say that in a few minutes the State Board of Education will indeed put in place a "transitional board" to run St. Louis Public Schools with the three members (selected by the Governor, the Mayor, and the Aldermanic President) to be announced in 30 days.

Great Grand Wonderful!
Its nice to see that most of our City officials are for local control, yet rural Missouri has the power.
If I see the G. Man at Mardi Gras, well I am going to congratulate him.

This can't come soon enough.

It's too bad you're anonymous. I hope that you and I can continue to dialogue about this because the SLPS are sure to implode in a few years if the upcoming lawsuits don't prevail.

It sounds like you are making a veiled threat, Doug. That's a pretty stupid thing to do.

Dear anonymous,
You are truly showing your ignorance. When the results of any public election (no matter how small the turnout)are overturned by executive or legislative fiat--a crime against democracy has occurred. It's bad enough that you blame the deficiencies of a school district on it's teachers when a large part of the blame lies on politicians witholding adequate funding, parents failing to teach their children right from wrong, parents failing to discipline their children, school boards dictating inferior curriculums with scripted procedures, and a society that denies a living wage and health care even to it's children. You must be one of those closed bigots that can't wait to reinstitutionalize slavery. Some day I hope to be around when the fascists come to collect you, while you stand there incredulously wondering how this could happen. I would want to laugh, but MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME BETTER.

For those who feel stripped of their democratic rights, keep in mind, you elected the Mayor,Governor, and Aldermatic President too. You chose to live in this state and this city that has rules that allow the state to take over the schools if they feel it necessary. Throwing a temper tantrum after years of neglect and apathy doesn't help now. Right now it is a day late and a dollar short.

Your mother taught you not to laugh? What was she, a sit-com writer for ABC?

I do feel stripped of my democratic rights, and I've been active since my kids started school years ago. I've not been apathetic and neither have many other parents. We just don't have the power that politicians have to get heard. And we didn't elect that governor, the rural areas did. St. Louis voted for his rival, fyi. The mayor? Well, let's have a recall election now and see if he gets re-elected. President of the BOA? Irrelevant, really. None of them were elected with the knowledge that this would come about. I am not throwing a temper tantrum, I am sticking up for my kids, who don't get a voice in this.

When this stupid idea does not improve the schools, and the appointees of Slay and Blunt are blaming each other-----do you think Slay and Blunt will be re-elected?
There is an old saying--be careful what you wish for. Slay and Blunt have their wish.

From reading the p-d story, for the state takeover to happen, the district would have to lose the provisional accreditation.
pd--
The final step hinges now on whether the district loses accreditation. That decision is expected as early as Feb. 28.
It was my understanding that the district was going to get provisional accreditation by tracking down old students and finding that, yes, they were in school. I cannot find the post, sorry.

Dear anonymous,
My mother was most certainly not a sit com writer; she was an honest woman who knew the difference between right and wrong. If this is a 'yo' momma' moment; then you need to look the direction of Slay and his nazi fascists. His momma apparently taught him the family business--'servicing' rich men who can't get any.

The state can call for intervention for other than academic reasons. Reasons like having a nut case like Bill Purdy running the place. Boy he is really looking sick again.

Lawsuits? Paid for by Mr. Wealth himself Bill Purdy with the help of Downs who barely has a job and Jones who does not have a job and on welfare. Now they are on the radio asking for donations.
Take them over

Give it up Veronica, for your own sake. You're transparent as hell.

Bill, I'm gnna ask one more time that you stop posting as Snead Hearn.
Veronica has not yet contacted those of us who would like to see you leave the Board, but when she does, you can count you days as numbered.
If you really aren't Bill Purdy, we can arange to meet each other for a face-to-face . . otherwise leave that woman out of this. Veronica has posted before and has not shown any fear of using her own name. Besides, why would she need to and she is all over television and print media making her points. That is unless she feels threatened by you for something she uncovered. If that is true, I would stroingly suggest she contact the federal authorities.

This is another very strange post by you. What possible benefit would there be in my proving to you that I'm not Bill Purdy or anyone wlse with any authority? In other words, suppose we do meet face-to-face and you're convinced, what then?
It's also a ridiculous request to leave Veronica "out of this." I'm pretty sure this is a blog spot pertaining to the SLPS and the last time I checked she was the President of the BoE.
I'm not sure how, but judging by your reaction to my comments sure seem to be hitting an exposed nerve.
