House Speaker Rod Jetton last week appointed St. Louis Democrat State Rep. Jeanette Mott Oxford to serve as the ranking minority party member on the House Special Committee on Energy and Environment, which handles bills relating to sustainable energy sources in Missouri and their impact on the environment. "It is crucial that we become less dependent on fossil fuels for the sake of both homeland security and addressing global warming," said Oxford in a press release. "Our committee will tackle the diverse needs of urban, suburban, and rural Missourians, with a goal of protecting the environment and promoting a vibrant economy."
Oxford also will serve on the House Ethics Committee and the House Special Committee on Family Services.
