Brandon Davis, former political director for Senator Claire McCaskill, has been hired to serve in the same position for the SEIU MO/KS State Council. Davis had for weeks been lobbying to become the new executive director of the Missouri Democratic Party.

The press release:
"We are thrilled to have Brandon part of our political program," said Sherwin Carroll, President of the SEIU MO/KS State Council. "Our union and our members understand the need to have a strong political program and plan, and Brandon can help us build that."
Mr. Davis most recently worked for the Claire McCaskill Senate campaign as Political Director and played a key role in her successful election.
"Brandon will be joining SEIU State Council Executive Director Lenny Jones, giving us a powerful team as we move into the next election cycle," said Mr. Carroll.
SEIU played a major role in passing Proposition B, which raised the minimum wage to $6.50 an hour. Besides monetary contributions to the effort, Lenny Jones was the campaign manager and SEIU staff Sara Howard was communications director. An additional 35 members worked full time on the campaign in the final nine weeks.
SEIU is the fastest growing union in the country, and one of the nation's most influential political operations. In Missouri, SEIU represents thousands of janitors, nursing home workers, factory workers, municipal, state, and school workers.

Congratulations to my brother Brandon Davis on your new position. I know you will do an excellent job in your new role and help empower Democrats statewide. In addition, I know you are definitely aware and sensitive to the issues that blacks face in the State of Missouri as well as nationwide, and more specifically black males.
I expect nothing but the best from you Brandon, as you continue to climb the mountain to the top overlooking minor bumps in the road. I am proud of the way you have carried yourself from your position with former Governor Bob Holden to the most recent election for Senator Claire McCaskill.
The young children in my community have to see a young black person in an important role to believe that this system of education and achievement that they are taught actually works in their best interest through real examples. Be the best Brandon, and don't worry about the rest.
Remember these inspirational words that I personally try to follow, and have been credited to
Mother Theresa:
Mother Teresa's Anyway Poem
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.
Peace & Love,
Joseph Palm

The good thing is that the sleezebag, Brian Wahby, wasn't able to block Brandon from this also.

Wake up folks!
There is a major power play developing into a defined power struggle for the direction of the MoDems between Nixon, McCaskill, and the Carnahans.
It is worth noting that this power play is not about race, as the previous posters seem to suggest, but rather, it is about who or whose people can raise the most money between now and the '08 elections for the MoDems.
One can only hope that the people working behind the scenes for these named "party leaders" can unify this party ASAP and put to bed any racial overtones.
