I feel strongly that Mr. Shrewsbury does have a handle on the problems in the City. He has in the past and will support an increase in the funding for the PA's office in the future. I know this will start the bloggers a blogin' about the "grass" but there is much more to keep the city budget in balance.

The $125,000 that is being discussed did NOT cause any increase in crime. Remember that NOBODY else seconded the motion, so there was more than Mr. Shrewsbury involved here.

Jim talks about a few bills he's done - I haven't seen yet what Reed has done in his 8 years as alderman to address crime and i'm not sure how to find out. Does anyone else know?

Reed hasn't done anything about crime in the eight years he's been on the BOA. In fact, if he had concerns about the Budget and what was being spent, he should have requested to be on Ways and Means, which deals with the Budget. Jennifer Florida has attended more Ways and Means hearings than Reed has. An Alderman, even if not on the Committee can attend EVERY hearing, ask questions and then make their statements in the hearing and on the floor of the Board when they vote on the budget. Reed hasn't sponsored any amendments to the Budget, offered any budgetary suggestions, etc. All he's running on is, I'm NOT Shrewsbury". Quite frankly, that's not enough.

Neither candidate are looking at the root causes of crime, which is concentrated poverty due to a lack of jobs. The poor in the past were poor, yet they had jobs and crime rates were much lower. Communities and families were stable, then manufacturing left the core. Neither, in my opinion, have real solutions to this problem. Jim wants to ban drug paraphernalia from the corner, whereas Lewis wants to bring big business back to the City. Isn't drug paraphernalia already illegal, and shouldn't the Police be targeting the big time suppliers? Will the low income have the skill set, via education and career training, to work at these businesses?

This campaign is all about money and power.

The whole Circuit attorney issue is Reeds wife, Mary Culins, not getting a raise.

Freeman Bosly Jr.'s ask, at a fundraiser over the weekend, for 80,000 was not really for T.V. commercials.

Reed is in debt to his campaign $80,000 and he doesn’t want to be left holding the bag.

MONEY AND POWER TO PAY REEDS BILLS!

Mary Cullins is NOT Lewis Reeds wife, beancounter.

It looks like I pulled an American!

Reeds wife is Mary Entrup... She was and Assistant Circut Attorney that would have gotten part of that $120,000.

Mary Culins is Reeds aid at the board of Alderman.

No Mary Cullins no longer works at the BOA, neither does June Rideout, they both were let go and hired by Reed PRIOR to his announcement to run. They are the major bloggers who have put out the negative info on Bob Rice, serious infighting going on there. Probably also the source for STL American's story on Bob.

I can just see the argument now...

Entrup: Jim voted against my raise. That will be the first mailing.

Rice: Except for you and the other ACA's no one cares.

Entrup: If you don't make my personal problem with Jim the biggest issue in this race I'll, I'll, I'll tell every on your mom is friends with Brian Wahby!

Rice Nooooooooo!

I've known Mary Cullins and June Rideout for many years down here at the Board, and let me make a few corrections to the lies being told...

Mary Cullins, a supporter of Lyda Krewson during the last President's race, was never given a reason for her dismissal.

June Rideout retired after 19 years serving our city, and was not let go.

Neither of these ladies would bother with blogging. I've heard they are very busy down at Reed's office.
