Blogger and middle-of-the-road Republican John Combest says yesterday's indictment of Black Caucus Chairman John Bowman may affect one of the state rep's recent clients, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill. Labels: Black_Caucus
"Just one month ago, the St. Louis American took a look at the McCaskill campaign finance reports. The paper followed the national money through a Missouri Dem fund and noted that 'Bowman’s Consulting' took 'a lot of jack' from the Missouri Democratic State Committee," wrote Combest.
"To Claire, Bowman wasn’t just a workhorse — he was a show horse, too. When she went after Jim Talent on race, she had lots of black faces to choose from — and she chose John Bowman."
Combest predicts Sen. McCaskill will "wash her hands of Bowman faster than an obsessive-compulsive at a leper colony. And expect the people who have been waiting to nail Claire for her first snafu to have a field day with the campaign finance paper trail that ties the indicted to our junior Senator. "

While it's embarrassing for Claire that Bowman has this trouble I don't think it's a 'snafu' unless somebody shows that she was given information about the potential charges and hired him anyway.
I do agree that she'll wash her hands of him immediately--she's undoubtedly very pissed off.
Let's keep our eye on the ball. The person with the problem here is Bowman, not Claire.

Give Combest credit. He can turn a phrase in an entertaining manner. Maybe he has a future as a "kinder, gentler" Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly.

Combest is as looney as Rush Limbaugh with a fresh prescription of Oxycontin. So what Bowman's Consulting "took a lot of jack" from the MoDem State Committee? So what he worked for and/or supported McCaskill? I don't recall Jim Talent EVER "washing his hands" of the COUNTLESS NUMBER of GOP Congressmen, aides, and supporters who were indicted for a variety of vices, crimes, and ethical breaches. In fact, the GOP took the position their indicted leader in the House, Tom Delay, should be allowed to keep his position after his indictment!
Claire is not responsible for Bowman (who is INNOCENT until proven otherwise) any more than Talent was responsible for those creeps.

Great work by you and John Combest. It inspired me to also do a post on all of this and I linked to both of you.
