Former 6th Ward Alderman Marit Clark has endorsed Committeeman Patrick Cacchione as the ward's next alderman. Labels: Alderman_Races
"Patrick is the only individual that has the experience necessary to best serve the 6th Ward," Clark said in a campaign press release. Clark represented the ward for 15 years and ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 1997.
As we reported earlier, Cacchione has also been endorsed by the 6th Ward Democratic Organization.
Cacchione's opponents are Kacie Starr Triplett* and Christian Saller.
*Triplett is a client of A D French & Associates

Cacchione should know that Clark's endorsement didnt carry much weight when he ran unsuccessfully against Lewis in 1999. I doubt if her endorsement will carry any weight this time either.

Marit Clark Withrow no longer lives in the 6th Ward. She barely lives in the City, now residing on the City-County border. She's still President of Citizens for Home Rule, the group that produced the home rule circus and finally did pay off its nearly $6,000 tax lien. Her credentials also include giving up her Democratic Party status to run, poorly, as an Independent for mayor. She then continued as alderman, threatening to stay until someone gave her a good job, which suprisingly did not happen to get her out sooner, and eventually, mercifully, she left elected office.

she's the last person he needs an endorsement from. she has no clout in this City, look at her home rule campaign, even with the funds, she lost.

Marit Clark is a class act who was:
...key in much of the early renaissance of the 6th ward;
...screwed over by the back-stabber Clarence Harmon (who told her he'd support her candidacy for mayor, than ran against her instead); and,
would have been mayor (easily beathing Bosley Junior) had it not been for Harmon's late entry into the race as a D.I.N.O. candidate.
Oh yeah, that's the truth!

The truth is that Marit Clark does not care who wins the 6th Ward aldermanic race, because she is practicing law and trying to make money. She is just throwing her name in the media for free.
The 6th ward white people are not going to vote for Kacie no matter who endorses her, and Cacchione and Saller may split the white vote. Kacie better get every black person registered to vote that she can and hope that enough black people vote to outnumber the white people that split the vote for Cacchione and Saller. If Kacie accomplishes this feat she wins, if not she loses.
Cacchione better try to get Saller out of the race or vice-versa, if not they may lose. If one of them gets out the race, then the white people will carry the white candidate to victory.
Lewis Reed won because people were tired of Marit Clark and whoever was with her in that election. Cacchione was going after the hardcore, "I vote for white people voters" when he captured the endorsement of Marit Clark. Smart move if he can talk Saller out of running, but he hurts himself with black people that know Marit Clark. Kacie will probably get those blacks anyway if she works hard.

Why has the fact that Cacchione has contriuted the max allowed to Talent and Aiken not been mentioned in the mainstream press? He also contributed to Dems., but far less. How does he justify it?

Marit Clark was one of the best aldermen the City ever had and continues to be a big proponent of St. Louis. Her efforts are the reason for the economic development we see in the 6th Ward today. Citizens for Home Rule failed because of the sleazy politics that continue to hold progress in the City back.
