The vote today on the perfection of the Barnes-Forest Park Lease deal was 22-2. Labels: Aldermen, BJC/Park_Deal
President Shrewsbury and 22nd Ward Alderman Jeffrey Boyd were the only votes against.
We haven't gotten the official vote yet, but according the President's office, Aldermen Florida, Kennedy, McMillan (who's vacated his seat for higher office), Troupe, and Williamson were not present at the time of the vote.

I guess every alderman but Jeff Boyd (???) feels it's in the city's best interest. Sounds like Shrewsbury is out of touch.

Boyd is a sellout. That bill mean more money for parks and rec centers in his own ward which would help keep kids off the streets. Time to take out the trash in the 22nd ward!!!!!!!!!!!

Just give BJC the park space!!! Its in an area people dont really go to anyway, when is the last time you went to the space where barnes want to build?????????? Have you ever been to that space? Has barnes ever help you or someone you know out??? Then why the hell are you standing against them?

if the people want to vote on it, they should be allowed to vote on it; I remember Slay's comment on the proposed vote on public funding for a new stadium: "the people arent smart enough to understand the deal"; in English, that's translated that the people might just be smart enough to understand it and vote it down;
same with the Park vote; if the people want to vote, they should be allowed to vote; by and large you never go wrong listening to your constituents;
and stltoday.com, I believe it was, said my opponent Terry Kennedy was there but didnt vote; my understanding is that abstentions arent allowed so their vote is put down as "not present" when what it means is they chose not to vote; what kind of political courage is it to not be present for such an important vote? I would have voted against, delaying it until the peoples initiative is voted on; all things considered I could vote to lease the park land to BJC if the price was right, but if the people want to right to vote on it, I think it's disrespectful not to give them the chance; let's hope Darlene Green feels the same way.
Agree or disagree with the deal, but alderpeople with the cahonnes to vote against BJC are the kind I respect. If that makes me dangerous, so be it. You never go wrong by doing the right thing.
