A special meeting of the St. Louis school board has been called for tomorrow in order to get hundreds of district employees pay checks they are due. Labels: Schools
We reported last week that the decision at their last meeting by three board members to deny a budget request from Superintendent Diana Bourisaw meant that without a special meeting hundreds of district employees may not get checks promised them until January.
Board member Ron Jackson, who along with Bob Archibald and Veronica O'Brien voted against the request, said he didn't know his vote would mean those workers wouldn't get paid. He blamed Bourisaw for not telling him.
Board members Peter Downs, Donna Jones and Bill Purdy voted in favor of Bourisaw's budget amendment, but since Flint Fowler was absent, the 3-3 vote meant it couldn't get passed.

The special board meeting will be at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, in the Foundation Room at the Administrative Building, 801 N. 11th Street. Here is the agenda:
1. Call To Order
2. Roll Call
3. Motion to Waive Notice
4. Authorization to transfer funds to pay settlement of union grievances
5. Motion to Adjourn

Her legacy will be mysterious.
I do not know why Slay appointed her.
I do not know why she hooked up with Downs, Jones, and Purdy for a while---but we are lucky she did, because it got rid of Williams and Irons.
I do not know why she championed Bourisaw. I don't know why she turned against her-----and also against her former temporary allies.
I hope whatever hinky thing that went on had nothing to do with the death of Timothy Bacon.

Answer: shes a royal nutcase.

Why are you all so concerned about Veronica O'Brien. I am sure she will do just fine as it looks like she has already done so without the help of any of you all.

I beg your pardon. The day after Timothy Bacon had 12 bullets put into him, the board voted 20,000 dollars extra security for her. The money did not come out of her pocket---I think the expenditure was justified.
Her pattern of alliances was so bizarre that one has to wonder if it was affected by medication---which would be kind of understandable, given all she has been through this year.

How could any board member think that staff would get paid if the budget request was not approved?
Hopefully tonight's meeting won't degenerate into a pissing contest, but I hold out very little hope given the current leadership.

Okay anon above, you are WAY out of line with that comment. Singling out women as being unstable is not just wrong, it's disgusting. Many women have made huge contributions to our society, and many men in positions of power have been complete morons, so back off the gender attacks.
