Props for Pub Def

By Antonio D. French

Filed Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 6:00 AM

An article in Friday's Post-Dispatch gives props to Pub Def for our political coverage throughout 2006. Thanks to political reporter Jo Mannies for the love.

French, who operates Pubdef, said political activists at all levels had better get used to the relentless characteristic of these blog sites.

As he sees it: "The Internet has introduced the 24-hour news cycle to local politics."

Hey Antonio, you deserve the props - and more. Can't say I always agree with you, (still don't understand all the love for Sen. Bond), but for the first time, you, (and your readers), have provided a legitimate, cover-all-the-bases, alternative voice to the quote, mainstream media, unquote. And in so doing, you are bringing some of us dinosauers, slowly but surely, into the technological age.
Thank you for your work, and best wishes for continued success.

PubDef is the only source for political information in the St. Louis Region.

The Old Media simply cannot do it better, faster, or more in depth than Mr. Antonio French.

Why go anywhere else besides PubDef?

The biggest compliment to the strength of expression in your writing is their refusal to publish the letter you wrote.

It has got to be uncomfortable for them to compare your intelligent writing concerning the schools to the incoherent gibberish we get from their editorial staff.

Does this mean that you will quit whining now?

Just kidding. Good job in "aught 6"
and keep 'em on their toes in "aught 7."

I don't want to go back! Please don't make us read that PD drivel or watch the talking heads again. We need PUBDEF!

MoDOT will soon lobby the state legislature supporting rail passenger service, Amtrak from St. Louis to Springfield, Branson, and Tulsa. Fifteen years of work went into promoting the effort. It's critical people who want such service speak out.

Please find out more by going to www.reedforcouncil.com

I have helped local, state, and national Democratic candidates on a volunteer basis for decades and started the whole statewide Draft McCaskill for Governor in 2003---we helped build the support to get her to the US Senate.

Please take a look at the site and Happy New Year, Steven Reed

PS This is the one of the nicest blogs in Missouri.
