With even less fanfare than the first time, 6th Ward Ald. Lewis Reed again announced yesterday he is running for Aldermanic President -- this time in a hastily produced press release.

"It’s time to make a change as to who is should be [sic] seated in the next four years in the Aldermanic President’s chair," Reed is quoted in the press release prepared by local PR man Gentry Trotter, who's identified as Reed's new director of communications.

"The economic growth of our city indicates that a successful team approach works better in the re-building of one St. Louis. The next Aldermanic President must represent all of the people and all of the interests which will help lay a deep structural foundation that we and our kids can build on."

License Collector-elect Mike McMillan and 6th Ward Committeewoman Bev Buchheit are co-chairing Reed's committee. And fellow aldermen Dionne Flowers and Jennifer Florida are listed as supporters.

Reed is running against incumbent Jim Shrewsbury in the March 6, 2007 primary.

"Hastily" is right. Let's hope Mr. Trotter gets his grammar together for the rest of the race.

What does Mr. Reed propose to do differently than Shrewsbury? What does that vague, "successful team approach" mean? That we should all kowtow to the mayor? Didn't the school board elections tell him that he doesn't have that much influence.

What does Darlene Green say?

When I was president of the Downtown St. Louis Residents Association, I found it interesting that Mr. Reed would send a surrogate in his stead to neighborhood meetings and events (if he was represented at all).

Though he did not represent downtown specifically, Jim Shrewsbury managed to get to more of our special events and often showed his support and interest in our neighborhood.

Everyone knows that Margie is a Jim Shrewsbury supporter and very biased. So your opinion has to be handled with a grain of salt.

You have been very exclusionary in your vision for what residents should live Downtown.

Thankfully, Margie is not the president anymore and diversity may prevail. Many people in the Central West End did not choose to move into lofts downtown due to Margie's insensitivity to certain people.

Go take a hike Margie!

Anony #4, for all the years I've known Margie she has been one of the more vocal advocates for a more culturally, racially, and economically diverse City of St. Louis.

Unfortunately for her (and us), she has often been disappointed by the City's apparent lack of value for those same things.

And Mr. or Miss Anonymous, I can also say this about Margie, she's always had balls enough to attach her name (and even a headshot) to her opinions.

Anony, I'm not sure what "pvlbopf" or "ROFLMAO" mean, but thanks?

If anyone hooks a brotha up with a grant, I think I could make some pretty nice mid- and full-length documentaries. So everyone report to GRANT WATCH duty!

Josh, don't forget that Mr. Shrewsbury was 25% of the people that attended the CHNA coffee in the park, as well.
