Former School Board member (and perennial mayorial candiate) Bill Haas is apparently running for alderman of the 18th Ward. Just a few weeks after losing his latest campaign for state representative, Haas is now holding a place in line at the Board of Elections to run against incumbent Ald. Terry Kennedy.
Ald. Frank Williamson also has a challenger waiting in line, Lee Willis of the 26th Ward.
Filing starts Monday at 8:00 a.m and closes January 5, 2007.
Click here to download an interview this reporter did with Haas back in 2005 during his last campaign for mayor. At the time, Haas said depression and financial troubles had him contemplating suicide. Since then, Haas says he is doing much better.

I heard Joe Palm Might throw his hat in the ring for the 26th

I heard that Joe Palm is depressed from getting his butt kicked by T.D. El-Amin, and that he has isolated himself to just using the palm of his hand.

note to Star Jones: I think your post says more about you than it does about me; but I dont let others define me, and neither should you; and btw, I'll make a great Alderman; winning will be a little tricky, but I'm at the doors and that's the best way; sorry if you're life's not going well and you think that taking it out on others will make you feel better; I'm glad to be there for you, but good luck with that plan.

If Haas actually has presence as an alderman, he'll be be better than The Shadow Kennedy.

thank you; thank you very much!
I'll have lots of presence; waiting for the opportunity a long time; 62 years old; not a lot of time to piss away; got to make the most of the opportunity; it's partly Sharon Tyus' old ward; redistricting in 2010; maybe we should try to give some of it back to her; the Slay dogs and their friends really did a number on her; he needed some help; people at the doors say, if you want to be a good alderman, be like Sharon Tyus; sounds fair to me;
Antonio, it's embarrassing reading your article; it's so personal; but I started it of course; and dont really regret it; some good things came of it, for me and hopefully others; but embarrassing nonetheless; but respectful, fair and compassionate; I told you then, I tell you now, I'll tell you always, best story done about me at the time, and maybe of all time. thanks for the respect and good journalism; I'm glad we're friends; that honors me, and, I hope, you; btw, that other story we spoke about is out there now if want to do a story; not really looking for one, but felt obligated to put it out there; now that's something someones should really be embarrassed about! best, BH

Ald. Williamson should be REPLACED. He is an embarrassment to the 26th, and is nothing but a Clay stooge. Has the guy ever done ANYTHING for the ward that didn't come through the Clay family? He gives his word to developers, but changes his mind on orders from Clay, even to the detriment of the ward and the City. I'm eager to get rid of this guy, even though being an alderman is probably the highest paying job he'll ever have.

Dang, I'm getting a 404 Not Found error on the PDF link.
Run, Bill, run!

Sorry, try it now.

The current 26th Ward organization is in shambles. The developers are only giving money to the Alderman because he allows them to do what they want. Once the development is done they will be through with the Alderman. The current home owners have been totally ignored, the new home owners have been hood-winked, the seniors are pissed and the previous Alderman has acknowledged that he made a mistake. The community has no leadership. Our commerical district is being developed without the input of the Alderman. I have the pulse for the community and the community believes in me. Remember you need votes to go with the money. I'll see you at the Victory Party March 6, 2007.
