VIDEO: Ashcroft on "The Daily Show"

By Antonio D. French

Filed Friday, October 20, 2006 at 3:09 PM

Former Missouri Governor, U.S. Senator, and U.S Attorney Gen. John Ashcroft recently appeared on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart". Here's the video.

At the end of the interview, when the former Attorney General and Stewart, a New Yorker, make a friendly wager on the Cardinals/Mets series, Ashcroft says if the Mets win, "We'll let you move to St. Louis and you'll think you moved to heaven!"

Jon Stewart in St. Louis? We might be willing to give up the pennant for that.

I never liked Ashcroft, but he gave a helluva an answer when he was on the hotseat.

I waited in line in NYC nearly 3 hours to see the Daily Show last year. Conservative Trent Lott was the guest that evening! Once we were seated Stewart came out and told us Lott would be the guest, the audience naturally boo'd and hissed. Stewart reminded us it was important to hear all sides and asked us to welcome the guest on stage at the right time. We politely clapped when he came out. We clapped and laughed harder as Stewart questioned him and got in some good jokes.

Can't wait to go back to NYC and wait in line again.
