Suburban Journals, WTF?

By Antonio D. French

Filed Thursday, September 28, 2006 at 10:32 AM

Okay, let's round out the Thursday morning bitching with a complaint about an article in the St. Charles Journal (man, with all this whining this site's going to start reading like a -- a blog).

Now granted it's St. Charles, but considering this reporter used to write for the Suburban Journals, it kind of hurts that we weren't included in their story on political blogging, which mostly talked about partisan blogs Fired Up Missouri and The Source, and a local site called St. Chuck Watch. But no Pub Def Weekly. [Insert sad face]

Oh well, no more whining. Let the haters hate. We've got important work to do...

Screw them Antonio! Pub def rocks! I come here everyday- I could'nt tell you the last time I actually read a paper. Your site is much more in-depth and truth-full than that gobbly-gook they publish in the papers anyway. Your site is awesome! Keep up the good job.

Antonio:

Frankly, I think the whole deal about citing PubDef has to do with the fact that most mainstream media does not view bloggers as part of their ranks. You are somewhere in between a journalist and a blogger. You don't write exclusively bs opinion like we bloggers. But, you also don't have a print version like ACC. The mainstream hasn't figured out where to pigeon hole you yet.

Travis, the Associated Press, Congressional Quarterly, and The Washington Times have all referenced Pub Def just fine. It's the local press that seems to have trouble.

Death to the trees!

What good are they anyway!

I only votes for people without computin' devices!

(perhaps you only think that you are getting your message out. Without the fluff and pablum, you might never reach the masses that read the RFT. That does not mean that you should get discouraged and stop!!!!! or start writing about Paris Hilton either.)

It's funny, but ACC doesn't have a link to Antonio, either. I really don't understand why.

It's obviously a story focusing mostly on political blogs relevant to the St. Charles area. Pub Def focuses mostly on St. Louis city and county politcs. I wouldn't feel too snubbed, Antonio.
If we ever feel the need to do a similar story in the city, I'll make sure to call you.

This site is at least as relevant to county voters as The Source. Come on.
