The addition of the new video player in our banner now presents an opportunity for campaigns and businesses to run their television commercials on our site (That's a big "hint-hint" to Ms. McCaskill, Thomas and Montee; Mr. Talent; all you Stem Cell supporters and opponents; and all the folks against the tobacco tax and in favor of it).

If the Talent campaign doesn't advertise on this site after all the fucking coverage they got today... well then we'll really see how much he gives a damn about black businessmen like A. French.

Keep up the good work Mr. Pub Def.

Well, AF, let us know if the kowtow to Talent brought in any bucks. If I had one one-thousandth the cash he has, I'd pay you to print his entire voting record for constituent review, and I'm not even running for anything. I just despise what he stands for more than I despise his opponent.

To both of you: If I wrote to advertisers, I'd be doing features on restaurants and praising the City's parks department for keeping bathrooms clean!

This little experiment is all about covering stories and races like nobody else: with on-demand video, photos, and as non-partisan as a lifelong Democrat can be.

Having worked in politics for many years, and being black, I don't expect very much from either party and can therefore scrutinize both sides with the same bullshit-colored glasses.

Anony #1, I dropped the same advertising email to the McCaskill and Talent campaigns months ago. Neither responded. I haven't pursued either since. Guess that makes me a poor salesman. Well, I didn't start this thing to exercise my salesmanship. I started it to better my writing, reporting, web and video production skills -- and to fill an existing void for real political news coverage.

When the dough runs out, I'll crawl back into the job pool. Integrity intact.

Anony #2, "kowtow"? Really? Have I not interviewed Claire McCaskill before? Have I not posted pages of photos from her events?

Does the word "non-partisan" mean anything to you?

Haters, away ... clearly you are consuming a product here. Should the creator of this content not earn a living? Or do you just prefer your solicitations to be more subtle, as with local newspapers? I'll take my newsgathering -- and the honesty of necessary solicitations -- in this refreshing and direct format.

ADF is correct. The integrity of this site and its balance is intact.

Carry on, Pub Def. And keep up the good (and groundbreaking) work.

PS Nice stinger on that video! Put a puffy trail on it and CNN'll be calling.

Yes, if "non-partisan" can mean disdain for politicians on either side when their votes are for sale to the highest campaign contributors. Did it really sound like I wanted you to give more space to Claire McCaskill? I definitely did not imply that. I wish the ads for both of them would stop. If the money for all of the campaigns went into paying off the national debt instead, we wouldn't have to worry about our grandchildren paying for Iraq instead of getting social security when they are old.
