Callow is New Preservation Bd. Chair

By Antonio D. French

Filed Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 6:17 PM

Michael Allen of Ecology of Absence is reporting that Richard Callow, political consultant to Mayor Francis Slay and live-in boyfriend of deputy mayor of development Barb Geisman, is the new chairman of the City's Preservation Board. Allen writes:

At its Monday meeting, the Preservation Board elected a new chairperson: Richard Callow, the public relations consultant who edits Mayor Slay's campaign website. New board member David Richardson nominated Callow after Melanie Fathman nominated architect Anthony Robinson, a reasonable voice who would have done well in the position.

Callow received the votes of Richardson,
Luis Porello, Mary "One" Johnson (who presided over the vote rather clumsily), John Burse and new member Michael Killeen. Robinson received Fathman's vote, and the nominated parties abstained.

So sleeping with the right person pays off! City leadership has gone down the drain.

Maybe the next mayor will appoint someone who is interest in the preservation of marriage at the same time.

Have fun with these remarks.

Inspecteur Clouseau ici: Mes amis, do you think Mr. Callow doesn't "hallow" matrimony?

Perhaps Callow has become calloused for some reason.

The obsession in this town over Richard Callow demonstrates a huge inferiority complex.

The man is a pussycat.

IF THIS ISN'T A CONFLICT OF INTEREST, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS.

MAYBE GEISMAN'S SISTER CAN BE MADE CHAIR OF THE TIF COMMISSION!

OR THE PARK DIRECTOR'S GIRLFRIEND CAN GET A JOB LOBBYING FOR BJC!

THE MEDIA IN THIS TOWN IS REDICULOUS. IF SLAY, GEISMAN, OR CALLOW WERE BLACK, THE NEWS MEDIA WOULD BE ON THEIR BEHINDS LIKE... WELL, LIKE VERONICA O'BRIEN... OR THE OLD FREEMAN BOSLEY, JR.

PITIFUL.

Because Mike Owens knows all too well the nepotism in City politics, sharing his bed with Alderwoman Lyda Krewson.

I'm not a fan of Mike Owens and I can't stand Lyda Krewson...but the two of them being married IS NOT NEPOTISM. They work for different employers. Are you people that stupid???!!!

Now that's just crazy talk.

Lyda Krewson is one of the best aldermen in the City of St. Louis.

She is definitely the most attractive.

Apparently some people feel threatened by bright, talented, and attractive women!

Sounds like more of that same inferiority complex.

C'mon St. Louis! Get over it!!

I guess since Keeny Jones is no longer an Alderman, she may be the most attractive...oh wait, what about that toad Conway?

Where is Steve Patterson in this discussion? As an avid observer of the Preservation Board's activities, Steve surely has comments on this recent appointment.

1. Jennifer Florida is way down cuter than Lyda Krewson.

2. Travis, why not offer your own opinion? Besides, Patterson is no preservationist. What more could Allen have said, anyway, short of spending 1,000 more words on Callow's supposed genius, supposed evil, relationship to Geisman, relationship to Slay, involvement in the Century Building....all of which only prove that Callow's hand is in a lot of cookie jars, just like many people. (Including Steve Patterson, Michael Allen and Antonio French, for that matter...)

We had some pretty good cookies at our neighborhood improvement meeting in Dutchtown the other night. Oh, you mean figurative cookies. Actually, I have no opinion, or cookies, in this matter.

Oh, you do have cookies in this matter, Travis. What if Cleveland High School gets a buyer and the redevelopment come before Callow's board? Preservation of historic building in this city is everyone's cookie.
