The Organization for Black Struggle will host a forum today for the five candidates running for the open 4th District State Senate seat.

The event will be from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Rowan Community Center, 1401 Rowan Ave. Organizers say all of the candidates have been invited to attend.

The candidates are State Reps. Yaphett El-Amin and Amber Boykins, former Congressional candidate Jeff Smith, former Alderman Kenny Jones, and former State Rep. Derio Gambaro.

KUDOS, TO THE ORGANIZATION OF BLACK STRUGGLE FOR A WELL ORGAINIZED CANDIDATES' FORUM...

The five candidates seeking the democratic primary victory for the now open 4th Senatorial District Seat due to the term limitation of current State Senator Pat Dougherty were asked questions by moderators Irene J. Smith, former alderwoman of the 1st Ward and community activist, Percy Green.

First a little history...

Sen. Pat Dougherty became the senator after a political coo of bitter, selfish, jealous, narrow-minded politicians and a couple of normal do-gooders who were inadvertently led astray voted to give the seat to Dougherty who along with then State Rep. O.L. Shelton, and State Rep. Charles "Quincy" Troupe were seeking the democratic nomination from the committee people who comprise the 4th Senatorial District.

Once now Alderman Charles "Quincy" Troupe realized he was not going to get the votes and now Alderman O.L. Shelton had received substantially more votes than Troupe; Troupe withdrew his bid and supported Doughtery...

As the North Side Turns...

Now all the politicos who were so well organized in the district's demise are all now on opposite ends of the political spectrum.
Shelton had an exceptional voting record; he was progressive in his views and inclusive in his support of candidates.

Fast-forward...

The candidates were:
Yaphett, liar, liar pants on fire El-Amin (especially as it relates to her so-called consistent support of public education while co-sponsoring a backdoor voucher bill. Furthermore, People for Progress shows she donated a significant amount of money to Jeff Smith’s campaign for Congressman against incumbent Russ Carnahan. So, why didn’t Yaphett and her husband who are committee people stay out of the senatorial race and endorse Jeff.
Unless they are working together in this endeavor???

Jeff, O Brother, My Brother from the Other Mother, Where Hast Thou Been Smith. Do you do the Due as in Ladue or the Lou as in St. Louis City?

Kenny, Come on; Come Again, Commi as in Communist, Jones.

Derio, Smooth as Silk; but, loves to Skirt the Issues, Gambaro.

Rep. Amber "Holly" better late than never; Boykins
