Governor Matt Blunt was on CNN's "Lou Dobbs Tonight" last week to discuss his new order that everyone pulled over by the Highway Patrol must have their immigration status checked. Labels: Governor, Immigration
The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis warned that the executive order could lead to more racial profiling. Jorge Riopedre, the group's secretary and legislative affairs chairman, told the Post-Dispatch that law enforcement agencies may single out "Hispanic-looking'' people, and take them directly to an immigration judge. He predicted that legal immigrants or citizens could find themselves unfairly forced to prove their status.
"This is not about illegal immigration. It's about due process,'' Riopedre told the Post.

Duckworth,they advocate nothing about kicking out legal immigrants,only the illegal immigrant criminals that steal American's Social Security #,enter this country illegally,don't learn english,march waving the Mexican flag while demanding rights only afforded citizens and legal immigrants!

Typical Matt Blunt. Here comes the racial profiling. I myself look Hispanic to some inbred morons like Blunt--even though I'm Italian. I can tell you if I'm stopped--my attorney will be called and I WILL file a racial discrimination suit against the officer, the dept. and Blunt. It's easy for him because he's WHITE BREAD and will never be confused for anything else. This order is unecessary; all that needs to be done is go after the employers who hire illegals SUCH AS THE BUILDING CONTRACTORS LIKE MCBRIDE AND SONS. OOPS.

Steal our social security? For one they are not the issue with social security. The issue is that the baby boomer's are retiring.
They are waving their flag for solidarity. Other immigrants went through the same process. Similar things were said of Sicilians and the Irish. Some people in the City knock the Bosnians.
The fact is that the United States has deindustrialized. We don't have manufacturing jobs anymore and many Americans are very specialized thus don't want to do menial service sector jobs, but we need those services. So illegal immigrants are employed. Also illegals are employed because this lowers the cost of goods since they are not citizens and do not have minimum wage requirements.
What I don't understand is why we want to throw out people who are cleaning our toilets and harvesting our produce. Shouldn't we be happy they are working slave wage jobs and shouldn't we give them something in return? Perhaps the same rights we all enjoy? Wouldn't that be a nice thank you?

Duckworth,with your compassion for the illegals immigrant criminals,it would be poetic justice if 15 of them moved into your home,took over,ate your food stole your Social Security number and messed up your credit and work history, spent your money and credit cards, wore your clothes,drove your vehicle,took your woman(or man) and demanded that they be allowed to do this because they just want to work! We know a bleeding heart liberal like you would not call the police on them!
