To Matty,
Please I hope your predicitions do not come true. It will be the sadest day in the history of the US.

To the hyperbolic anonymous--
You probably meant 'saddest', but how about Pearl Harbor, Gettysburg or 9/11? I guess politics is everything, to some.
11/06/2006 10:13 AM
Harsh language, i wonder what specific prediction the seemingly conservative anonymous was talking about. The only thing i hope is different mainly about Matty's predictions is a larger margin for the minimum wage increase. A ten point victory on a statutory amendment could easily be overturned in the state legislature, which could be a divisive decision that would be favorable for local businesses and hurt low-income workers.

Save for the tobacco tax, I think the "liberal" causes enjoy a more receptive climate this cycle. The numbers I came up with (which are more out-of-my-hat guesses than anything) are cautious. I wouldn't be surprised if, for instance, the minimum wage measure passed by a larger margin. While I don't have any real data with which to refer, there are many social "conservatives" out there who nevertheless are economically "liberal" and will support such a measure.
